Early Access Review
Enjoyed shapez 1, played thru the demo of 2 ... but was still shocked by the amount of new stuff packed into EA 2. The new design of the research tree / tasks / unlocks is great. The art style is spot on. Have a 3rd level to play on... mind blowing. Far easier to jump into, scratch that OCD nerve, and jump out of than others in this genre. The team is taking this one in the right direction.

Convert Darkest Dungeon into a low poly 3D game with all its roguelike mania, add a Civ style hex map and exploration over the top, and then add the time crunching avatar (chaos) bar and resource management from XCOM2 and you get For The King. I find all the little systems and characters to be well balanced, and appreciate the add-ons from the Lore Store to keep it fresh. 10/10 - This one has really hooked me for the price. Nice job devs!

This expansion improves upon an already perfect game - especially when heavily modded.

Just... Wow! This goes way beyond just a VR experience. It whisks you a million miles from your living room and drops you knees deep in muck, with a flashlight, a map and a creepy feeling that you should've gotten a tentanus shot before coming up in here. There's familiar game mechanics like papers lying about, junk on shelves, notes tacked to the walls. They all feel VERY different when you get to root thru a life sized cabinet in order to inspect it all. This will really ruin a lot of my fav games for me - but at the same time I have that old feeling from being a kid when games like Quake and Doom first came out and we all thought "Man - gaming is about to change forever, and right here soon". Revolution is coming. Can't wait to play the next episode.

BTW, more than the puzzles or the story or the environments ... the one thing I appreciate the most is the inventory system. Extremely well done! If you grip your hand near your shoulder and pull, you will slip off your backpack which can then be parked mid-air anywhere you like (think Deadspace). A touch of a finger will summon whatever you want from in there - a tape recorder, a flip lighter, some scrap parts or a map. Grab a strap on the bag and throw it back over your shoulder to put your stuff away. A+ for immersion whomever designed that part.

Deciding on whether to open an interactive object to search for loot has the exact same mechanic of putting a 9V battery on your tongue as a kid. Irresistable, despite being a generally nasty experience - then resulting in the giggles.

"Your Man-At-Arms discovered 7 coins and a dirty magazine in the chest! Despite a Guilty Conscience, your hero's Deviant Tastes cause him to Lurk off to a dark corner to Compulsively Quick-Draw and Flaggelate himself as a true Slayer of the Handkind. Caught Off Guard by your Vestal, he seems to have developed a Weak Grip leading to a Flawed Release... and now he's Winded, Tuckered Out and has the Stomach Cramps. Apologies for the Syphilis btw... Perhaps a 2,000 coin visit to the Brothel once you retreat to the Hamlet will help." - Red Hook
