The World Rally Championship (WRC) is a rallying series organised by the FIA, culminating with a champion driver and manufacturer. The driver's world championship and manufacturer's world championship are separate championships, but based on the same point system. The series currently consists of 13 three-day events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is split into 15-25 special stages which are run against the clock on closed roads.

Frenchman Sebastien Ogier has won the 2011 WRC Rally de Portugal, his second win in a row on the event and third career victory.

Ogier's Citroen team-mate Sebastien Loeb, who was the winner of the Power Stage, finished in second place, 31.8 sec behind. Jari-Matti Latvala and Mikko Hirvonen took third and fourth places respectively after a tough weekend for the Ford team. Matthew Wilson was fifth overall in the Stobart Ford Fiesta RS WRC, while Petter Solberg fought back from his first day retirement to clinch seventh spot on the final stage in his privateer DS3 WRC.

Rally Guanajuato Mexico

Reigning FIA World Rally Champions Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena claimed their first win of the season today, taking their fifth victory in Rally Guanajuato Mexico, the second round of the FIA World Rally Championship. After yet more dramatic action over the closing stages, Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen finished second with team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila third. Unfortunately, Sébastien Ogier went off the road with victory in sight. The Frenchman damaged the front left wheel of the DS3 WRC and was forced into retirement after an impressive drive all weekend.
