Some tips for new pCars players…

Turn on the "Lap Info" window in the upper right. As long as the lap time is counting and white, the lap is valid. If you cut the track or collide with another vehicle, the lap time can turn red indicating that the lap is invalid.

ABS, TC, ESP are available if your car has them. Nobody forces you to drive with or without ABS. Make sure you have keys or buttons assigned, so you can turn those functions on or off, in case the game forgets your preference (it sometimes does).

A lot isn't working in this game. pCars2 will fix it. Until then, most problems can be solved by relogging or restarting the game. This includes: game freezes when loading track, camera is stuck, cannot change setup, wheel stopped working, lost engine noise, cannot join event in progress, invisible cars (yeah, that's a thing)… basically everything but bad weather (actually, if you are the last user in a lobby, relogging might even fix the weather, because the session setup is rotated whenever the server is empty).

Game freezes when trying to enter an empty lobby? Happens a lot, most of the time it works on the next attempt after killing and restarting the game.

The chat in the in-event lobby is currently broken, and has been for a while. Use the pre-event chat or the the small chat window which is available on the track and in the pit monitor after clicking on the "eye" icon.

This is how livery selection works: enter the car selection screen, click on the right area called "My Garage", select the car you want, select the livery you want, click the green circle (or press the A button), then exit the garage and the quick selection using the arrows in the upper left.

Do not select your vehicle again in the quick selection, or you will override the choice you just made and end up with a random livery.

Thanks to lag, connectivity problems or client bugs (e.g. the "invisible cars" bug), it's not uncommon that only one driver reports a collision, while the other driver has no idea that there was contact, or that there even was another vehicle.

In these situations, the bot will show a line about "possible tech problems" with the keyword "sync" when reporting the incident. Affected drivers (ie. the driver who didn't notice the contact) should relog to make sure they can see all other cars.

This is really a week-long event, it runs from sunday 3pm to sunday 3pm (local); only non-overlapping valid laps are counted per team; drivers are assigned to teams based on what car they drive most.
