Cygwin is absolute necessity, some extra libs and it's ready to compile.

I am getting really desperate here. If there is anyone who have ever managed to build G++ tools under windows I would really appreciate any tips and clues how to do that. No amount of googling helped...I've got codeblocks and mingw32 installed. Tried adding paths into enviro variables but nothing helps. No advices on gnu web helps either. Pleaaaase!!!

They hold a grudge against DRM, which indeed restricts users rights. It put itself above users and may remain installed forever even after game is uninstalled. They have nothing against comercial software.

I think you have 0 idea of what GNU actually is. It is indeed a set of utilities and programs used by most of the linux distros...
What you were probably refering to is FSF. There is only small, mainly philosofical, difference between FSF and OSS. Do you realize FOSS is actually refering to both of these in general?

And by the all, can you explain how freedom is "backward and harmful political goal"?

I've been using new open source Radeon drivers on Ubuntu 16.04 and I must say I am impressed! There were some games that went from runnable into playable - like Tomb Raider. Others got decent boost like Metro LL. It seems to be the case for OpenGL games. Benchmarks on Phoronix.com tells the same story.

Now you can say Linux has full driver support out of the box (well, maybe except freshly released hw, but thats obvious)

I have older 7 series radeon and besides slightly slower performance than Win it runs fine. But they haven't released update for months now. I guess their budget is stretched thin and they are polishing drivers for new GPUs.

Most of the people began on MS platform. And there are these close minded folks who based their point of view on belief that Windows is the only functional OS where everything works because "everybody" use it and "everybody" say the same thing. It's obviously wrong but there's nothing you can do about it. In fact fighting them will only strengthen their resolution.
Whenever there's somebody running linux it undermines their point of view and they react aggressively(you might want to read about psychology topic of "cognitive dissonance" :))).

Just leave them be. Don't be like them, don't preach about linux and don't trashtalk anything...

If you spot some undecided people thinking about linux, just tell them - It's free and it's their choice! Because that's the spirit of free software.
