Family should not be limited to the same household
Let's say your nuclear family doesn't have the habit of gaming, so you share your games with one cousin from mom's side and another from dad's. They don't know each other, and they share their games with their respective close relatives. This makes perfect sense and works fine with the current family library sharing, but now Valve is saying no by forcing you to share only with people within a group. You either choose to join the group of one cousin, or get excluded by both.

Not every family is structured like the American-style nuclear families. Relatives outside the nuclear family are also a part of the family. Please keep the sharing on a one-to-one basis.

---

EDIT: Another example is divorced families, where the kids might want to share with their parents, but the parents may refuse to stay in the same group. It's presumptuous to assume that everyone's immediate family can be simply placed into one group.

Or at least give chance to create 2-3 family groups

Yep, it’s absurd how Valve thinks all families are structured the same.

Lets just say this restriction makes it painfully obvious that Valve is a American company which thinks in US centric family terms.
For the USA this system makes sense, the country is gigantic and most Americans have their relatives all over the USA but still in the same country.
But for the rest of the world this may look drastically different, especially in regions with a lot of smaller countries like Europe or South America.

Not very well thought out.
Yeah we're all from africa, so we're all family ok.

But yeah it sucks if actual family members don't live in same country, which it's a shame, I think this is a double edge here, this does stop people trying to get free rides from other countires to just buy their own copy instead of harassing others to get access, but on other hand it make it pointless if family members not in same country to share from the start. I think 1 year cooldown is a major good change as deters a lot of people that trying to rent their accounts out, and stuff.
