What have I missed? Well, there actually was some Sly news in the past year (and 2021, which I never made a post for). In 2021, we got a Sly Cooper Funko Pop out of pretty much nowhere. I've never really liked the funko pop style too much, but I can now say I am the proud owner of 1 singular funko pop. At least until the inevitable Dimitri funko, of course.

Hey, sly hasn't been in a game in a while, he should show up in one. Oh, would you look at that, he did. Yes, in 2021's Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Sly makes a brief cameo appearance. I have not played the game myself (don't got one of them PS5s), but I have seen footage of it, and it is pretty interesting. So one of the weapons in the game apparently opens a dimensional portal and from that portal comes something or someone that can damage enemies. So basically, Sly appears as one of many playstation cameos that can come out of said portal. Pretty cool I guess. It's at least better than the last time Sly was in a game with Ratchet *cue vietnam style flashback to Playstation Move Heroes*. Wait, was that the last game they were in or was it Playstation Allstars? If it was PS Allstars, then cue less traumatic vietnam style flashback.

2022. What a wild year, let's talk about that now. So the Sly series celebrated its 20th anniversary. Yep, 20 whole years since the release of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. I would say "wow I feel old now" but I don't, so I won't. As part of this celebration, we actually got more new merch. We got a new T-shirt which features Sly, Bentley, Murray, and the Guru. We also got- ok, that was a joke, the Guru was not on there, unfortunately. Instead it was Carmelita, which is still cool, but is it AS cool as the Guru? You decide. Anyway, we also got a pretty cool poster made by Dev Madan, who was the art director for the trilogy. It definitely has that classic artstyle, and there are a lot of little things to notice in it. I recommend at least looking at it, if you have yet to see it. The poster was sold in some super limited autographed form for like $200 or something, or you could just buy a less fancy version for like $25. Let's be real here, I can't afford dat shit, so it's the $25 one for me. Lastly, we got a new Sly Cooper plush. He is slightly weird looking, but in a mostly appealing way. It's been a while since that original sly stubbins plush, and while that one was cute, it's nice to get a sly plush that's a little less chibi. He can be bought from Fangamer for $32. A bit pricey but I assume the quality is good.

So that's pretty much it. I think a lot of people were hoping there'd be some game announcement on the anniversary, but no such thing happened. I'm not even sure what they could do at this point. I've seen some suggest a trilogy remake (akin to what happened with Crash and Spyro) but I think PS2 era games just hold up a lot better graphically and control wise, meaning there's no real need for a remake. Sly 5 is most likely not going to happen anytime soon, or ever. Then again, I never thought a Sly 4 would happen, and yet here we are. Speaking of, while I've mostly joined the side of the community that grew to dislike Sly 4 over time (my issue was always story, not gameplay), I have been wanting to give it another playthrough, and maybe find more to like in it. I only played it all the way through once, back at launch. Wait, Sly 4 came out like 10 years ago? Okay, NOW I feel old.
