Yes, I know the Victoria II section was finished a while ago, but I made the map and wrote up the AAR cause it would bother me if i had ck2 eu4 and hoi4 but not vic2.

A new age had begun in Europe, for the age of feudalism had ended, and here in Greece, what is now called the Renaissance, began. New ways of thinking and sophisticated art reintroduced itself to Europe, practices that were long forgotten in Europe ever since the Barbarians invaded the Empire. With the Renaissance brought exploration as well, and an Age of Discovery Began. The Muslims Empires in Persia deciding to cut off trade to India to all Christians aided this desire for exploration,and the Europeans began searching for a different way to get to India. Fortunately for the Empire, it owned a small strip of land that was inherited a few decades ago, linking the mediterranean and arabian seas. While most Europeans ventured to the west, The Byzantines ventured south and east.
We made landings in a few Indian Ocean Islands, and eventually found the southern tip of Africa. Because of its similar climate to southern Europe, it was claimed into the Empire. Islands were colonized farther into the Indian ocean as well in order to have more ports on the way to India. The farther the Empire ventured, the more unclaimed land it found until it reached a massive desert island. The Byzantines decided to call this new land Neos Aegyptos, or New Egypt, because of the similar climates.
During this time, our close ally, Sicily, after almost 2 centuries, exited its pacifist state and attack the Papal States, The Christians in Sicily did not care however because they were Orthodox. The Papal States were annexed, and over the course of the next few decades, The Sicilians made small gains throughout Italy, and the Byzantine Empire dissuade any coalitions from declaring. At the same time the Byzantine Empire attacked the Crusader State of Jerusalem, and stripped their coast, connecting the mainland with the outpost in Suez.
In the Catholic Church a second schism erupted, seeing the corrupt nature of the Papacy, and the ousting of the Pope from Rome by Sicily, religious rebels known as Protestants rose up all over the Holy Roman Empire. After only a few decades, Europe was overrun with Protestants. Only barely kept in control by many many religious reforms across Europe, bringing about an Age of Reformation. Religious disarray was everywhere, including Sicily, which began having major religious conflicts between its traditional Orthodox Population, its newly conquered Catholics, and the New Protestant Rebels. However through the aid of a Byzantine Legion, and the reforms of the Sicilian Kings, The Rebels were suppressed and Orthodox was eventually reinstated in the Kingdom. Even though the Catholic’s Rebels do not concern an Orthodox Power, to see a fellow Orthodox brethren fall into religious chaos cast the moral responsibility on the Byzantine Emperors to help.
In the mid 1500s, the Byzantine Emperors saw an opportunity to make a landing in the continent of India itself, to directly harvest its goods instead of trading for it. The First of many Byzantine incursions into India was made, hopping to the Maldives, then into Southern India. It was clear from the first landings into India, ruling it as a foreign power would not be easy, as the Hindus despised foreign rule. The land in India was given a large amount of Autonomy in order to keep them somewhat under control, yet a large garrison had to be set up there. Yet, this was all worth it, as production and riches skyrocketed in the Byzantine Empire, it was almost as if they had the province of Egypt returned to them. Yet Egypt was controlled by the Fatimids, who were still a formidable foe, and someone the Byzantines were not yet willing to take on.
The Sicilians once again were attacking northern Italy, and in fact came into control of much of it, reaching the alps by the 1600s, yet these wars in India and Italy took time, during this time, South Africa and New Egypt were being colonized. A Byzantine Ship went west to see if it can stake any claims in the mysterious land the British found. It claimed a few small islands, at first, then later expeditions led it to find a major continent, which they named Neos Makedonia, or New Macedonia. This settlement in the mainland would go on to become the Byzantines most prosperous colony next to India.
As the 1600s came around, the religious conflicts were solved, and though the Catholic church was divided, Europe generally was at religious peace. With this newfound peace, stronger control over the country was made by the monarchs of the various European Countries, including the Byzantine Emperors. This Age of Absolutism had its pros and cons. Pros being that Empires can take much more land, and that the leaders have much more control, however rebellions resisting the absolute control are consistent.
The consolidation of Byzantine Power led to a more organized and Professional Army. The Fatimids were attacked and annihilated by these new Byzantine Legions. Egypt, after 1000 years, was finally under Byzantine control once again. The Byzantines also made massive gains in India. Throughout the entirety of the 1600s in fact, the Byzantines were in some kind of war, weather with Indians or Islam, there was an enemy to be fought, and the Byzantines were sure to fight it.
The Sicilians however, were stuck at the Alps, a coalition of all the german states and and surrounding nations formed against Sicily, and thought they refused to declare war out of fear, they refused to disband out of fear that once they disbanded, the Sicilians would attack. They were right, but it took almost 25 years for the coalition to dissolve, and as soon as it did, the Sicilians began their conquests once again.
The Age of Absolutism brought prosperity on paper to the empires, but for the people living in the empires, they had miserable lives. The 1600s were over, and the 1700s brought with them enlightenment ideals, new sciences, ideologies, and theories. The Power of Monarchs was fading, yet they were not willing to give up their power so easily. This caused a rift between the nobility and peasantry wider than ever before, Europe was on the Brink of Revolution, this was an Age of Revolutions.
The Byzantine Emperors stopped their constant fighting in order to deal with the internal problems they were facing with this newfound unrest. The Sicilians also stopped there never ending march though northern Italy. In this time the Sicilians gained a personal union over the Kingdom of Aragon, and they also made their first colonial ventures into Canada.
This long peace between nations, but internal chaos was called the Pax Europa, since the world was generally at peace. That's not to say that there wasn’t wars in this time period, yet they were small. The largest was the Sicilian Invasion of Hesse, and all that was for was to dismantle the disorderly mess of the Holy Roman Empire. During this time, two major alliances built up, The Pact of Eagles, between the Byzantines, Sicily, Scandinavia, and Mexico, and the Alliance of Britain, including Great Britain, Castile, Tuscany, who had been exiled to North Africa, and Morocco. War was eventually going to break out between these alliances, but the question was when. They all wanted things from each other, The Byzantines wanted a lot of British colonial land and parts of North Africa, Sicily wanted Southern France, owned by the British, and some Castilian land. The war finally broke out in 1786, and it would last a long and brutal 12 years, being known simply as the 12 years war, though some consider it the First World War. The war ended in an outstanding victory for the Pact of Eagles, Britain's North American colonies were stripped from then, and their South American colonies soon declared independence, the South of France was given to Sicily, which connected them with their subject Aragon, which soon after was fully integrated and the Sicilian Empire was declared. This war was won, however a heavy price was paid, of almost 2,000,000 casualties.
The end of the war was not all that happened, the losing countries of Castile and Britain especially fell into disarray. Revolutions popped up all over the kingdoms, they were suppressed in Castile by Byzantine Legions, but rebels took over the government and beheaded the king in Britain. Sicily also fell into internal problems. During this time, a new foe, one that little was paid attention to arised. The Netherlands, who by now had conquered all of Northern Germany. War was declared by the Dutch on Scandinavia, a member of the Pact of Eagles, so the Byzantines and Sicilians came to their aid immediately. They thought this war would be easy, however the Dutch army was insanely well disciplined, had nationalistic morale, and were able to stategise well enough to effect huge shock on opposing armies, sometimes wiping them off the face of the earth. In the early stages of the war, many Byzantines, Sicilians, and Scandinavians were lost, causing the 3 to completely recreate most of their armies, The Sicilians doubled the size of there army and the Byzantine Army grew in size by a quarter. Eventually by sheer numbers and strategy, the Pact of Eagles came out on top, but with almost 750,000 deaths on the winning side, and only 300,000 on the losing.
After a decade of Recovery, Britain was attacked and their revolution was crushed, and a king put back in place. At the same time the Sicilians conquered almost half of the nation of Castile, and all of North Africa under the Emperor, a intense militaristic and expansionist. Yet because the army of Sicily was doubled in size they can hold the land easily. This brings us to today, January 1st 1836, the beginning of a new age, the Age of Industrialization.
