Is anyone here getting better fps's at borderlands 2 while on plasma 5 (OS 13.2) than on the 4x series?

can someone tell me how to stop the x server in opensuse 13.1 so i can install my nvidia drivers? im using Gnome and trying to instal the driver that comes with the CUDA toolkit and im new to linux... ty in advance
