@Xsenion Not opposed to the idea, but it looks like the 9Chat for Steam leadership has left the building.

9Chat fiddled with the social control mechanics too much and the old guard that built the community left. The app itself limps along but any attempts to go back to 9Gag and jumpstart recruitment is met with mockery and dismissal.

You can try, but even here, where Discord players would eventually end up, no one uses the real-time chat function, no one socially coordinates a game.

At this point, I think a Discord server would be easier. If anyone is still interested in gathering people who enjoy both 9gag and games. Anyone?

Checking in. 9chat has become 'Cookie' and while they temporarily banned anyone over a certain age from posting, everything is back to normal and 9Chat/Cookie is still alive and well, with frequent calls for 'who plays game X'.
