There will be an event tomorrow at 12:00 PM EST. It will be a Dust 2 and will be running standard competitive rules with overtime enabled, as usual. If you wish to sign up, please make sure that you will absolutely be able to actually participate in the event and proceed to the signup discussion. As always, Teamspeak is required, but a microphone is not.

Event Signup

I figured I might as well use this since this rarely gets used for anything anyways.

I'm starting up another event to get this group going again. This time it's just a simple competitive match on de_mirage. This event will happen at 1:00 PM EST(time will be converted to your time zone when you view the actual event.

Anyways, there isn't really anything special about this specific event. Rules are the same as usual: standard competitive with overtime enabled. Teamspeak is required as that is where team communication will take place. A microphone is not required though, but is HIGHLY recommended for your sake and the sake of your teammates.

Event Signups

18/7/14 Update - The event has been delayed to July 16th at 1:00 PM EST. Disregard the time mentioned in the announcement below. The links have been changed though, so feel free to use those.

After receiving some criticism from players, Espeon and I have decided to setup a Steam group specifically for events within this community. The Steam discussion feature will be used as a way to have people signup for events to make things easier for the event moderators and you guys, as you won't have to post on the forums to signup. The Steam group can be found here. It is not necessary to join the group in order to sign up for events, you can post in the event signup section without being a member of the group. In fact, you should only really join the group if you want frequent updates on new events, event updates, and results of events. Please be respectful when posting there or else you will be banned from the group discussion and the entire community.

With that said and done, I have decided to setup frequent CSGO matches on the competitive server, the first one we're having is on Dust2 and is happening 1:00 PM EST on July 19th. This is just meant to be a fun little event that anyone can signup for, much like last time. Teamspeak will be required like the last event. For the information page on the Steam group, go here. For the most part, I will not be using the news section to be posting more event info, so keep an eye on both Steam groups for clues as to when events will happen and the server events section on the FaceWAN forum. Hope to see some of you guys signing up for the new event.

With the FaceWAN competitive server being launched today, I have decided to setup a competitive event for July 5th, 12:00 PM EST. This event accepts all skill groups of people within the FaceWAN community and after a while, it might expand to certain people outside of the community if we do not have enough players. The event itself is a 5v5 competitive match with teams assigned by me personally(I am doing my best to make sure teams are balanced). The game is best of three matches and the matches are best of 30 rounds. The first match takes place on de_inferno, the second match on de_mirage, and the third match on de_dust2.

Recently we found a really good deal with OVH on a dedicated server that matches the current price we pay, but offers much much more in terms of resources. Right now with Awknet, we only have a server with a Core i7 processor and 8GB of RAM. OVH offers a server with a 6 core Xeon processor and 128GB of RAM for the same price. We have purchased the server from OVH and put up a few servers as a test, the results were very good; a stable connection and no drops. This new server now allows us to host servers for more games and put up more servers for current games!

I have moved all of the servers over to the OVH box and turned the servers on, so your favorites should update with the new IP in the next few days. Until everyone gets the new server IPs, there is a plugin on the old servers that will redirect you to the new servers if you join the old ones.

The servers are now located in Quebec; Canada[http//%27https] on the East Coast, just outside of the US. Pings may vary from location, but we have seen overall better ping times from most places (even countries outside the US!).
