WHY DO YOU BUY MORE GAME?
* I'm not satisfy all the game that already own
+ Other Reason: I wanted to write myself a short review
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I already own the genre I wanted
* I don't have time to play
* None of game I'm interested
I'm buying a lot of bundles, when I spend $40 or $50 in a month for bundles it leaves me without regrets and I get 40-50 games from it, it just takes a couple of those to be interesting to be worth it overall and my library keeps growing and at any time I can pick something new to play or find out 'oh nice I already have that'.
I also dont buy anything from IndieGala, DIG, Groupees, DollarBundles asf. only Humble Bundle and some Fanatical, I'm only interested in decent games that I might play some day, even if it's just for a bit, I'm not buying to increase my game count or for card drops/XP, those sites really sell trash games that often only created for the card drops or easy achievments, I wish those games were not on Steam at all because they are trash.
I dont preorder games very often, only when it's something I really want a lot, like Warhammer 3, God of War, Dying Light 2 and in the future probably Spiderman, but otherwise I can be patient and wait for the games to be on a good sale or in a bundle, my libraries are already big enough after all and I also have the Game Pass and whatnot.
* Recommended by my friends
Can agree to this but what I tend to do is wait off for a period if it is not something I really want, been burned by friends who really love the game, only to stop playing a few days later.
* I think the price worth it, even-though I'm not gonna play the game
This is only justified if the dev has made a step in the right direction, Middle Earth: Shadow of War had Microtransactions at one point and it was clear that the game had these incorporated in despite the devs saying otherwise, they removed it a couple of years later and I bought it when I did. Trying to play it since but it is a big game to get into. Also I bought This War of Mine to support Ukraine in the early days of the invasion, unlikely to play that one.
* I just want to play some "new" game
There are some that might get my interest but new is not something that hooks me
* I wanted to increase the number of games collection
Never one for me, unnecessary cost for something your likely never going to play, sales really pull people into buying this stuff when they have games not played. Best to play them and then buy next sale when it is even cheaper.
* Game rated overwhelming positive
Negative / Positive does not matter that much, I'll look at reviews of the negative to see what the issues are though
* I'm not satisfy all the game that already played
Not sure about this one, not an achievement hunter so I just play for fun.
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I already own the genre I wanted
I'm willing to try new concepts if I see them and if my old games are getting a little dated I might move on but I like to re-play games without picking up remasters if the upgrade is not that great.
* I have not enough money
More really unnecessary cost, ask yourself would you buy this now to play or do you have other things right now? I bought GTA 5 thinking that I would play it, 5 years later not anywhere near wanting to play it.
* I don't have time to play
Time is precious, I weigh up what I'm doing right now compared to what I can fit in, a small game might work a large game would depend on circumstances
* None of game I'm interested
There are games that I have on my wishlist which looked at the time but later on I take them off due to lack of interest, might be an idea to chuck them on your wishlist, wait a few months and then come back to it and see if you still like it enough to buy, might cut down on expense.
* Game rating is overwhelming negative
It can be a factor but would need to see the reviews of those negative to see why, plenty of trolls and reviews bombs out there. Could be the company is getting a lot of flak for something outside of the games scope.
* Buy bundles instead, much worthy than discount price
* Pre-order to support the Developers
* I just want to play some "new" game
* I think the price worth it, even-though I'm not gonna play the game
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I have not enough money
* I don't have time to play
-> when I see interesting and some new gameplay elements in a game.
-> when you want to get distracted for a while.
-> to play co-op or online games with friends to spend some time and interact with them online.
-> to complete a game 100% once you have completed the main game story (get all the achievements to show that you are very good at it and different from so many others).
I purchase if
-> they are available at a good discount or in any bundle.
-> they have good reviews.
-> they fall into my playing genre.
I generally don't purchase
-> if it is not properly region priced. (region priced explanation: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianGaming/comments/bncuqa/small_premier_on_indian_regional_pricing_on_steam/)
-> online multiplayer games.
-> a game is heavy on preaching.
-> a game is heavily reliant on grinding aspect.
WHAT MAKES ME BUY:
* Deeply discounted/priced (I don't have much money, so this one fits the most)
* Rating (Overwhemingly Positive -> Very Positive) + good user reviews
* Cult classic/great old games (New isn't always good)
* Genre (FPS, TPS, RTS, CRPG)
* Innovative gameplay/concept/storytelling
* Online Co-op
* Completing game series
WHAT MAKES ME DON'T BUY:
* Highly priced
* Rating (Mostly Positive -> Overwhemingly Negative) + bad user reviews (exception on review bombs)
* Genre (Horror, Generic Puzzle, Visual Novel, 18+, Generic JRPG, Fighting, Sports, Roguelike) (ngl hating roguelike give me kinda guilty pleasure feeling. I just don't like completely randomized games with permadeath, forcing you to complete the game/reach as far as possible at a time with no chance of trial & error)
* Bland/generic gameplay/concept/storytelling
* Microtransactions/in-app purchase (Hate it so much)
* Competitive online/very grindy games
Note:
* I usually join giveaways & get random games for free, so mainly half of my backlog are pretty random
WHY DO YOU BUY MORE GAME?
* Recommended by my friends
* I just want to play some "new" game
* I wanted to increase the number of games collection
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I have not enough money
* I don't have time to play
* None of game I'm interested
* Recommended by my friends - Can be true, especially since I frequently read reviews and are friends with those who write them
* I just want to play some "new" game - Too many times have I thrown something in my cart to just play something "different" ~ doesn't really have to be "new" for me though.
* I think the price worth it, even-though I'm not gonna play the game - Can't really refuse a good sale
* I wanted to increase the number of games collection - I honestly don't pay attention to this
* Game rated overwhelming positive - It's a plus, goes hand in hand with recommendation and a good sale though.
* I'm not satisfy all the game that already played - Yeah sometimes. Kind of goes with the whole "different" thing.
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I have not enough money - Budgeting is usually the only major reason I won't buy games since I usually buy that at a heavy discount. Sometimes reviews effect it, but I usually like to form my own opinion.
WHY DO YOU BUY MORE GAME?
* Recommended by my friends
Yes and no on this one for me... not all friends are equal, and not all opinions are the same. I value maybe 1 or 2 "pro" reviewers opinions more than any of my friends... but if there is a multiplayer game more than 2-3 of my friends are playing at a single time, I will definitely at least check out the game.
* I just want to play some "new" game
Not usually the case for me. I value quality > quantity... but I also value a good deal, so if I can get, for example, the entire Resident Evil franchise on sale for like $4 on GoG or HumbleBundle I will absolutely do so.
* I think the price worth it, even-though I'm not gonna play the game
Even though I easily have the money to purchase any game I want at full price, does not mean I will. If a game is NOT on sale there is very little chance of me purchasing it unless I have an INCREDIBLE urge to play it (as in a once per decade game like Witcher 3 or Minecraft).
* I wanted to increase the number of games collection
I honestly cannot imagine why the "number" of games owned would matter to any actual gamer.
* Game rated overwhelming positive
This is kind of sus(pect) sometimes. Surely a high rated game gets more views and purchases... but that doesn't mean the game is good, or even alive still.
* I'm not satisfy all the game that already played
Well if I actually finished EVERY GAME I own maybe I'd be qualified to answer this... but I do not have the time or motivation for that task. This is a large reason I value "pro" reviewers such as (SillyAgent)Kiin to do the extensive research to adjust my opinion accordingly.
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I already own the genre I wanted
* I have not enough money
* I don't have time to play
This is probably one of the most important factors for me. I will make an exception though if the game seems to me as a great creation that further advances video games or pioneers a totally new hybrid genre or something on those lines.
* None of game I'm interested
If you meant "I am not interested in the game genre"; then yes I do fit into this category of disinterest for certain game genres(such as "adult-only games" or "casual puzzle games").
* Game rating is overwhelming negative
This is usually a big red flag and mostly deserved... however there are sometimes exceptions (the only negative->positive exception I can think of right now is No Man's Sky: https://gtm.you1.cn/storesteam/app/275850/No_Mans_Sky/).
* Good Story
* Good characters
* Good gameplay
* Rated positively
* Followup to a game series or game company that I like
* My friends asked me to get it to play with them
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY A NEW GAME?
* Rated negatively
* Too expensive
* Not long enough of a game
* Not intriguing or enticing
* Doesn't have a good story, characters, gameplay, etc.
* Game rated overwhelming positive
This could be a good trigger to get more info about game
+ I know game genres that i like and periodically checking news about that wich is leading to getting new game later or sooner as well :)
WHEN WILL YOU NOT BUY MORE GAME?
* I don't have time to play
+ I don't have interest in playing games at that moment at all
