Because we have three different guilds now, please remember to host with the password so that people from all guilds can enter your game.

Due to the growing popularity of DotA is Hard and the sudden influx of players due to the end of DotA 2's Beta period as well as the TI3, the numbers in our community are swelling.

For this reason, there have been two new guilds created for our community.

DotA is Hard - Beginners Guild
This will be for the newer players who are looking to learn the game as well as for experiened players who are willing to teach newer players how the game works.

DotA is Hard - Experienced Guild
Due to a number of requests I have also created a guild for experienced players. This will be for players who want to get into some serious captains mode games and team scrims. For players to hone their skills for serious competition DotA.

To be invited into a specific guild, please jump in the DotA is Hard chat channel and ask. I will be in both the Steam chat and the DotA chat for all of tonight and I will monitor it closely over the coming days.

Important Note
While this is a step away from our communities original intentions of keeping everyone together in the one community, a temporary solution is needed. Valve has promised to increase the numbers allowed in guilds and when they do all the guilds will be assimilated into one again.

I am pleased to announce DotA is Hard's first ever competition!

This competition will be a little bit of light hearted fun using the Fantasy Team feature in the TI3 Compendium. All the rules for playing the Fantasy Team are detailed in your Compendium and this competition will be following those rules. The three players with the most points upon the completion of The International 3 will be declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

The prizes include

• Dragon Forged Set
  
• Alpha Predator Set

• Blessings of the Solar Divine

• The Fearless Badger
  
  
  1st place will have the first choice of two item sets, 2nd place will have 2nd choice of two item sets and 3rd place will get the final choice. Please note that one person may not choose two mythical items.

  In order to be able to participate you must meet a number of criteria:
  • Be a member of the DotA is Hard Steam Group
    
  • Be a member of the DotA is Hard Guild in the DotA 2 client
    
  • Own a TI3 Compendium
  
  To enter the competition, simply send an e-mail to project_swift@dotaishard.com which includes:
  • A link to your Steam Profile
    
  • Your screen name in the DotA 2 client. (Please note that your name in DotA 2 must remain the same from your entry until the prizes are drawn.)
  
  Entries to the competition will close 11:59pm Friday 09/August/2013 and first second and third place will be announced 6:00pm Wednesday 14/August/2013. Winners will be announced via Facebook, Steam, Live-Stream (TBA) and E-mail.
