Garden Story
I'd looked forward to playing this game, so it's a real shame that it ended up being as tedious as it was. I think I expected something similar to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, except perhaps with less humor + more crafting, but... the gameplay was very grindy, and the crafting isn't particularly engaging. K wasn't feeling it either so we dropped the game after a few hours.

Get in the Car, Loser
Disclaimer: I was never going to like this game. I've gotten a bit BEC about Christine Love, and nothing about the game sounded appealing to me. It opens with a cut scene that filled me with cringe. But even the combat portions just... weren't fun? I was probably missing something, and I wasn't giving it the attention it deserved, but nothing about the game made me want to continue playing.

Golf Club Wasteland
This was a shame! The presentation is delightful. We loved the music, the radio stuff, the aesthetics.

It's just a really bad golf game. I got stuck on one level and I guess that was the end of it for us. It's sort of a puzzle setup where you have to figure out exactly where you need to get the ball in order to eventually get the ball in the hole, but it was so hard to adjust the angle and strength of the hit that it became painful to play.

GOODBYE WORLD
This is essentially a visual novel about two indie game developers with mild gameplay elements, but the gameplay elements are a really bad indie block puzzle game that made think "yes, this is why you failed at indie game dev." I don't know how autobiographical it was, but the story was slice of life, the graphics were a bit boring, and the gameplay parts were painful, so we quit out before we'd gotten far into the story.

Greak: Memories of Azur
This is a metroidvania (I think) that reminded me a bit of Astalon: Tears of the Earth ... but I didn't like Astalon either. Either way, you end up having to switch between multiple characters to progress, and also it's hard. Greak has lovely environments, which made it extra weird that the character models seemed so out of place in that world. I think for people who enjoy this sort of game, it might be fun? But it's not for me.

The Gunk :solstice:
We completed this one! And... well. If you own it, you might as well play it, but it's not a game we'd say you need to go out and buy. The main character's design is strange. She looks so much more like a child than her friend. The mechanics of cleaning up evil goo was satisfying BUT some of the puzzles later on got obnoxious, and the overall story/plot wasn't anything to write home about. It was the absolute weirdest climate change/environmental analogy I've played. Also, the color scheme gave me a headache. The weird green-tint on everything... bleh.

Hoa :solstice:
While playing, we kept joking that this was "baby's first metroidvania." It's not really a metroidvania; more of a simple platformer. The art and animation were gorgeous, and the story was cute I guess, but I don't know that I would tell people to go out and buy this game. It isn't anything truly exciting. It was short, though, and we actually appreciate shorter games these days.

Haiku, The Robot
Another metroidvania! According to K, it's very clearly Hollow Knight inspired. I definitely felt that when I died to the first boss multiple times. I don't know if it was me sucking or the game's controls being terrible, I just know that I kept hitting the dodge button and going in the wrong direction because of how it handled inputs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Anyway, after multiple deaths and retraversing the same corridor like five times, I was done.

IMMORTALITY :stardrop:
We aren't done with this game but oh my god it's so good. SO GOOD. We want to watch a full-length version of Ambrosio! Also this game is extremely horny so if you don't enjoy on screen nudity and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (you never see genitals but, uh.... yeah.) We look forward to piecing together more of these three movies.
