Toxikk - Detroit Build 1.1.4 brings lots of new stuff like Squad Survival, a team-based game mode, plus lots of new features and improvements. Here's what we did in detail:




SQUAD SURVIVAL is the star of this update. In case you didn't already read the rules of this new game mode in one of our previous announcements, here's a quick outline:

Two opposing squads get cut off from their battalions and face each other fully armed, but without the chance to call reinforcements (no respawns, no one can join a running round) or fresh ammo (no pick-ups whatsoever in the maps).

Each squad member has all weapons right from the spawn, fully loaded, but only one life to lose.

The surviving squad wins.

The challenge is to play strategically with a focus on good team-play and to keep an eye on your resources, as you can't restock anything.



01 - FEATURE: Mutator improvements

• The game's speed of the FastForward and the slug mode mutator can now be configured.
  
  
• Buddy Kill: The percentual damage team mates receive can now be configured. You can now also configure a retaliation factor, i.e. the player who causes the damage gets hurt too (penalty)
  
  
• Teamkills: XP reward messages were falsely displayed on teamkills. This was fixed.

02 - FIX: If free team switching is disabled, the "player is requesting a team swap"-message is now displayed as "system message" in the gamelog.

03 - FEATURE: Teams are now getting auto-ballanced during the prematch stage based on Skill Class. This can be disabled by server admins with the "AutoReBalanceTeams=false" launchparameter.

04 - FIX: If your killer gets killed while you are watching him, your cam switched over to the killer of the killer. This was fixed.

05 - FIX: Healthbars of team mates weren't correctly displayed on clients. This was fixed.

06 - CHANGE: Servers with unofficial maps are now ranked. I.e. official matchmaking for full game players can potentially send you to servers with custom maps from now on.

07 - CHANGE: The "Friends Only" Quick Join option was removed. Please use "Join friends" to join your friends' games via the Steam-overlay.

08 - CHANGE: If SC-Restrictions is set to "ON" in the Quick Join menu, it will now be more straight-forward, as it will preferably always let you join on SC restricted server, even if there are no players yet. Turn it OFF to play on servers open to all Skill Classes.

09 - CHANGE: SC calculations were adjusted to better reflect play performance in all gamemodes... and is now again in testing phase.

10 - CHANGE: Players now spawn with 125HP to avoid instant rocket-kills after spawning.

11 - FIX: Ravager wasn't able to deal teamdamage. This was fixed.

12 - CHANGE: Flamethrower's alt fire now deals max 200dmg instead of 250 and its primary fire "projectiles" are now faster (from 1200 to 1600 units).

13 - FIX: Hidden hint messages in the main menu were occasionally appearing and covering other UI-elements. This was fixed.

14 - FIX: Scoreboards of all objective based team gamemodes are getting sorted for MXP (column is also highlighted).

15 - FIX: Blood screen effect was pointing in the wrong direction. This was fixed (...and is now: "Sooooo reeeaaalll!!!")

16 - FIX: Timer in info views (lower left) weren't correctly displayed if gamespeed was changed with Slug Mode / Fast Forward mutators. This was fixed.

17 - DREDD: Reported & convicted cheaters were banned from official servers.

From now and until TOXIKK's full release (and before we start to officially advertise the game), we want to get the FRIDAY FRAG FESTS (F3) going as a weekly organized event. Join us, bring your friends, and let's frag into the wee hours of the morning.

There are a lot of people who want to play more TOXIKK, but don't find the amount of concurrent players, as everybody playing is scattered around during all possible weekdays and day-times. We believe that a focused event will help you to enjoy the game a lot more, as the F3 will hopefully make it a lot easier to find the amount and the variety of competitors you're looking for.

I also play, a lot, odds are you have already played with me, but if you have not I look forward to seeing you in game at some point. I play North American servers pretty much every day, generally between 3PM and 9PM EST.

I’d like to use this thread for more than just an announcement, though, as I’d be interested in hearing what else folks would like to see me do in my role as a Community Manager for Toxikk. Some thoughts I’ve had are scheduled group playtests with specific balancing focus, organized events such as for-fun (or maybe down the line more serious) tournaments, and that sort of thing, all officially supported by Reakktor. So let me know what kind things you might be interested in. I’m really looking forward to working with you guys to make Toxikk the most awesome AFPS ever!

Also, I know I have a propensity for very wordy posts, so I'll be trying to always include a TLDR summary at the end for such posts to make things more digestible. I hope this is helpful.

Patch #003 brings your TOXIKK V0.73 Wasabi Build up to V0.75 Curry Build. It is the first major milestone build since TOXIKK's early access beta launch on our roadmap and comes with fixes, changes and many new features.

It's really a BIG milestone for us and you'll notice that massive maps play almost like an entirely different game from the experience you had with Foundation (i.e. classic maps). Internally we often refer to the difference of the play-styles in classic versus massive maps to be as big as between e.g. CoD and BF. It definitely adds a lot variation to the standard non-vehicle based AFPS game style in our opinion.




FIX_01 - VIDEO OPTIONS PROBLEM
In some cases, some of the video options were reset after you've ended a match or were set back to default values. This shouldn't happen anymore.

FIX_02 - MOUSE SMOOTHING ERASED
As it was an unliked feature anyway, the optional mouse smoothing was removed completely. The whole mouse fine tuning process is still a work-in-progress process though and we'll keep looking into this as we progress with the roadmap.

FIX_03 - BETTER READABILITY FOR IN-GAME OPTIONS MENU
The background of the ingame options menu now has a strong, dark vignetting effect, improving its readability in very bright scenes.





CHG_01 - MAIN MENU VIEW
The main menu view (first layer of the game menu) now shows random game artworks instead of only showing the Exocom Mercenary.





FTR_01 - NEW MAP: TWIN PEAKS
Twin Peaks is a massive map (i.e. designed for up to 16 players) set in the Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. EXOCOM and DRAYOS are fighting for control over two EDENIUM mines. More details about the map can be found on our homepage under GAME -> MAPS.

FTR_02 - NEW GAME MODE: CELL CAPTURE
CELL CAPTURE (CC) is closely related to classic CAPTURE THE FLAG (CTF). Pretty much the only difference is that, instead of stealing a flag, you're stealing your opponent's energy cell, sabotaging his operations and return it to your HQ. E.g. in Twin Peaks, the mega drills in the mines are operated by these cells.

FTR_03 - NEW VEHICLE: RHINOCEROS
The RHINOCEROS (Rhino) is a small, four-wheel powered, two-passenger vehicle (driver and gunner) that is capable of turbo boosting, self destruction and is extremely well armored. It is armed with a plasma projectiles (similiar to those of the Stingray rifle) minus the focused beam, but with unlimited ammo. Its primary weapon may overheat under heavy use though.

FTR_04 - NEW VEHICLE: PHANTOM
The PHANTOM is a medium sized assault bomber, equipped with a minigun as its primary fire and unguided missiles as secondary fire. It's excellently suited to give air support to infantry units.

FTR_05 - NEW VEHICLE: STREAMER
The STREAMER is a hoverbike that can be spawned by the player (default key is [G]). Spawning the bike will cost you 100% of your power armor's energy (the same energy you use to activate the stealth effect). It is very fast, but entirely unarmed. It is also the only vehicle that can carry the cell in Cell Capture game mode.

FTR_06 - NEW VEHICLE: BANSHEE
The BANSHEE is a combat hover pod. Its primary fire is the exact same gun of the RHINOCEROS, while its alternate fire is a quick descend, allowing its pilot to crush infantry units underneath it.

FTR_07 - NEW WEAPON: HELLRAISER
The HELLRAISER does it exactly what its name says: IT RAISES HELL.

FTR_08 - CROSSHAIR DESIGNER V0.8
As requested by the community, we added a crosshair designer to the game options menu that'll allow you to customize the crosshair for every gun. You'll find it in: MAIN MENU -> OPTIONS -> GAME -> CROSSHAIRS. We'll add more templates to it, but this should already be a good start to work with. Hope you have fun playing around with it... (we sure had making it). ^^

FTR_09 - NEW SERVER BROWSER FILTERS
You can now toggle the view to not show unofficial or empty servers.

HACKING IS A CANCER TO COMPETITIVE ONLINE GAMING! We take the battle against hackers seriously and since Wasabi Build V0.73, TOXIKK is VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) enabled. VAC is a VERY effective way to sort out hackers. If someone got VAC banned on another game before, he'll not be able to log into any other VAC secured titles again.




VAC doesn't insta-ban cheaters and hackers. Instead it looks for signatures of reported and installed hack software. If you are aware of any hack software, you can send a PM to the VAC team (requires an account on the official STEAM forums). A VAC team member will take a look at it and set it on the list of hacks to scan for.

Once enough evidence is provided, VAC does prune hackers in batches. So, if you encounter (and report) a hacker today, there's a good chance he'll still be there tomorrow, but be banned at some later point (together with a bunch of other guys using that same hack method).




No. They'll be banned on EVERY server that is listed and accessible through the game's internal server browser and through STEAM's server browser. This, of course, also includes privately hosted dedicated servers.




Absolutely. The best way to report them is through STEAM. This is also the way that complies best with VAC measures (i.e. the info will be used to convict already assumed hackers). You can find out the best way to report a hacker to STEAM HERE. But, again, keep in mind that your report does not necessarily mean an insta-ban for that particular individual, but rather be helpful to identify (and ban) hackers using a certain hack method in general.




No. If you report a hacker, you should ALWAYS report him to STEAM first. After you've done that, send a PM to one of our team members (e.g. me) with the assumed hacker(s) or, if you don't have an account on this forum, reach out to us via our contact form[reakktor.com]. Links to video material as evidence are helpful, but not necessarily required (e.g. if we get enough reportings about one and the same individual, we'll put him on our ban lists). OFFICIAL BAN LISTS WILL BE UPDATED WITH EVERY PATCH!

However, unlike VAC, our ban lists only apply to the official servers. If you want to ban an individual from your privately run server, you should use the appropriate admin ban command[forum.toxikk.com]. The player will automatically be added to your personal ban list (i.e. you won't need to ban him again). In fact, you'll get two ban lists (one with his Steam ID and one with his current IP address) to make sure that he doesn't get back, even if he uses mutliple STEAM accounts.
