Filtering out purely "Pornographic" games from "Sexual Content"
Steam regularly covers the storefront with explicit, purely pornographic games yet my attempts to filter this kind of content also results in other, very legitimate games that have some sexual content but not purely explicit, like "Witcher 3" and "Baldur's Gate 3" get filtered out of view.

Can we please get some kind of tag that games that are primarily there for sexual pleasure (the life sim games) that have gratuitous sex scenes must be tagged with?

I'm not against porn, it's just that as the months go by, exploring Steam is like wading through KY Jelly.

Come to Germany, they are filtered out here by law.

With how utterly tasteless, classless and worthless it is, I would absolutely be willing to ban porn entirely from Steam. But I know that's not going to happen because, quite literally, sex sells and that's the only thing that counts, no matter how much worse the entire platform is getting (even if we ignore the swathes of prawns washing ashore) Oh wait, my bad, I 'member, Greenlight is to blame.

I've never had this problem.

so much for Germany being a democracy

That's bogus. All they require is Steam do do a proper age verification.

well, "democracy" is usually a scam. is a front to create the illusion of choice, but fortunately more people are becoming aware that big corporations (and their globalist socialism supporters) are actually "behind the wheels of power".

when you see how those connect to policies and policy making, you will get why so many things that at first glance may look arbitrary or even stupid actually are just part of some "power play" and other bs they sell with "good intentions" (and actually are meant to work against people, specially the groups they claim to or pretend to help).

the establishment, the mainstream, will (usually) always work against "outsiders".

not really.

"proper age verification" is the excuse countries like germany are pushing for to justify getting rl identities attached to online activities to then limit what people can and cannot do, and worse. is part of the "wet-dream" of socialists authoritarian agenda(s). thats also why people that support those views are usually also pushing for that, even if they will never be honest about the end goal, or able to accept it as a logical consequence of that approach.

whats is missing is proper "end-user filtering", which is what op is talking about. that means tools and options that allow every single user be able to choose how to modify and control the results and options in their local copy of the client.

a simple example of that would be the option to remove the "whats new" section, and better options to choose what is listed there and how, rather than having that space forcefully occupied by news we may not want to look every time we open the client, and just see our "licensed content" (because steam still, unlike gog, wont offer the option to download local copies of installers to have local, legally available offline copies, of games we pay for)

Don't Use The STEAM Store,

You Won't Have To Worry About Filters Anymore... ~_~

*grabs popcorn for the inevitable "there are only two agendas" lecture*

Seriously though, delusional fascist conspiracy theories aside, filters would be useless because the porn games circumvent Steam's systems and pretend not to be porn games. Though anyone with a functioning brain cell will see the very obvious unmistakable porn that is either locked behind an 18+ dlc or some other workaround people will be advised to make use of in the discussions.

None of this will get fixed until Valve pulls the hands out of their pockets and actually does something with Steam other than siphoning and counting that sweet sweet moolah. As of now, there's nobody who even takes a single look at the stuff released on Steam. It will have to get much worse until they decide to do something...which will probably also just be a reaction to some kind of legislation that forces them to act...or after they've gotten sued for itsomething around it. I mean there are pedophile rape games on Steam so yeah, not sure I want to know what "worse" will be in praxis.

Even If Valve Stopped Harassing People On STEAM??

Their STEAM Client Is Riddled With Bugs Over Like 8 Years???

STEAM Client Would Have To Be Entirely Wiped Out,
& Re-Built From Ground Up...

Basically, STEAM Is Dead Weight Right Now...

Even Valve Support Has Admitted This Statement,
That Valve Can't Reverse Any Damages...

Soooo, Your Only Option Is To Do The Work Yourself...

Which I Got A Solution For...

But It's Only If People Want It...

The Problem Is, People Only Care About Complaining??

Soooo, Do People Not Want Solutions,
They Just Want To Complain??

If They Just Want To Complain, Then What's Da F Ing Point??

+1 for the idea of a pornography game filter

Go to your store preferences and disable "Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content" and "Adult Only Sexual Content" under "Mature Content Preferences", and voila porn is hidden in your store. Do note that these are off by default so you have enabled showing of porn at some point. These do not effect games like Witcher 3 and Baldur's Gate 3 as they are under "Some Nudity or Sexual Content ".

Did you just have an AI do a dismissive wisecracker post or are you yourself that clueless? In the first paragraph the above user literally describes those preferences in action. And then also went on to suggest additional tags/filters to prevent the problem.
