Why do they keep doing this?
I'm not the kind of person who gives feedback for this kind of thing but, seriously, this is an absolute garbage user experience compared to how it was. They did this, or a very similar "experiment" a few months ago and it was garbage then too.

It seems that a large number of people have left negative feedback for the last one, this one also looks to have a lot of negative feedback, so why do they keep trying to force this awful UX upon their user base? They could at least give people a clear way to opt out and provide reasons for the opting out, this way they might get a better idea of how people feel about these experiments.

For the life of me I have no idea. That last time a few months ago you refer to isn't even the first time they've done this, seems they do something like it every few months and the changes are always unnecessary, detrimental ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it's almost universally met with people asking for an opt-out to return to the perfectly good system we've had for well over a decade, invariably resulting in radio silence from our Steam overlords.
