I like it, people just havent adjusted yet.
If people were to give this new design time i think it would be great, it allows people like me to find some of the most popular and thought of games which could be awkward but still possible to find in the past. I think people don't really like this new design because they have been very stuck and gotten use to the old UI.

edit: seems like a lot of people are here to complain about the limited options and showing of all these Triple A titles. If this is your problem you will find https://steampeek.hu/ to be your best friend.

No, I don't like it because it has reduced search functions. I want to see a list in descending order of all new games in a category, not what is the most popular among new releases. I want to be able to refine my searches according to my tastes instead of being restricted to a handful of tags that Steam wants me to use. Many others have already stated that they have no problems with an updated UI as long as functionality doesn't get reduced. Basically I want to be able to carry out refined searches instead of having Steam make recommendations because Steam has never done a good job of recommendations for me.

The whole "PeOPle juSt DoN't LikE chAngE" is an ignorant broad statement that only serves to shut down input and discussion.

I agree thatt the statement people just dont like change is a bad statement, which i why i didn't use it, but i believe steam was trying to get a deep kinda of idea with this and when it came out on full release you would still have functionality of the original search function but this was just going to be a slid in feature. If this wasn't their true purpose then sorry if i annoyed you.

That's my bad. I unfairly made the assumption you were making the whole "people don't like change" statement when you said people had been stuck with old UI for so long they were used to it. I understand what you were saying now.

i like looking at the new free-to-play games but now the section is un-usable. i wana see the recently released games not all the old game people are playing. and even when i get to the bottom of the section to see what games came out it still just shows me all the old-popular game that i just scrolled past

Of course you won't have any problems with Experiment 12. You only have 44 games. A huge chunk of which are either free to play games or cheap games obtained from bundles. Which means you don't really use the store that much for deep diving and buying games.

I've noticed that with all the threads so far. The people who are defending Experiment 12 don't really use the old store functionality extensively.

Agreed, so far this seems like a huge step back from where it was and I don't really like the layout of it either. Companies really need to learn that you don't have to change everything (especially the things that actually worked, and what people like).

I'd be less upset if the "new games" tab were added back, as I like to keep up to date on F2P games that way or a simple way to revert to the old layouts, but we know that Valve doesn't give those type of options, and want everyone to be on he same level.

Found the undercover Valve employee.

Give us back the functionality of the old list and you can "improve" the design until your eyes bleed.

Changes are needed (as is the setting to revert them any time users would want so) but what Steam usually does is a complete failure that leaves 90% of us disappointed, which you can see in other topics.

Yeah that's exactlly why i like the feature, it allways people like me to play mainstream games which are meant to great and other people think highly off. I also only have 44 games because I play shooters at a semi professional level and arent focused on many otherrs. The experiment 12 helped me discover other shooters which were a part of the main stream. In the full release of experiment 12 the community was hoping for a combination of the old and "new" experiment store.

That's fair enough I did kind of struggle finding the newer releases of games, but at the end of the steam is a business and wants to put the best games MONEY can buy in front of there customers.

I was talking about the best of both worlds. With my "hybrid" idea you could still use the old functionality but users like me who are only looking for the main stream games which people think highly of can see those games without having to dive through all the newer off stream games.
i came back after so long going "hey let me see what the NEWEST NEWEST release to see if theres any fun new games" but heck with that idea i can't search up jack its too confusing the other was way more easier...just type what your perf was DONE none of this "tag" based stuff so confusing its not the fact people haven't adjucted to it yet its the fact its insanely a bad choice from steam i have not meet 1 single person on ANY platform who likes the new search engine its so bad i WANT and DEMAND the old search style because i can't find anything for the life of me and the one puzzle to find the dang games for a dumb reward was a complete nightmare it got so bad i had to find a guide because it was that bad i have no pros to this new change all i see and can find is cons cons cons guess what? more cons of this change needs to be undone and SOON not never not next year more like "NOW" infact everyone is by far mad at this like dear god did the dev team not think "maybe we should add a go back from this change option" nope...gave us no option just looking at the feedback alone you can tell its officially 100%! a huge NO to this change infact alot of the whole community is demanding it be changed back

Yeah because people like you don't want to see the best of both worlds. A hybrid system would be better like you said with the "old store" option as some people like myself prefer the experiment 12 store to the old one as I usually stick to mainstream games. I do understand your points thought because its truly not for everyone and neither is the old system
Norzello 21 Jul, 2022 @ 10:57am
Let me add that I only buy strategy/building etc. games, so I nearly daily skimmed the newly released titles in those categories for something fun to play. That's not possible anymore. Now I only get suggestions for games I already know about. So I want the old function back, the tabs could have been enhanced with the new functions - but they were replaced.
