Add recording to memory instead of disk
I'd prefer to avoid taking a hit on SSD endurance by not writing constantly to it, I have enough RAM available to keep the recordings in memory until saved.

100%, OBS's Replay Buffer does this and would love to see it in a future update here.

This would also be great, especially if instant clip saving was implemented.

If you don't want to wait for Steam to update this feature, Medal allows you to do that.

this is, ironically, exactly the reason i don't use the replay buffer on obs. i don't have enough ram to reserve a bunch of it just in case i want to save a recording. the option would be nice for those with baller computers, but ditching the disk buffer entirely would make the feature almost useless for anyone with a reasonable amount of ram like 8 or 16gb.

They should definitely provide an option, not remove disk buffer entirely. I think disk being the default option would probably be for the best, too.

It's not reasonable amount though, it's barely adequate nowadays, it's better to add some when there's a chance — won't regret it, increases comfort 200%. Adequate starts from 24.

But other than that i agree, both variants would be useful for different cases.

Sounds like a good idea.

+1, I don't want to drill my SSD having 96GB of the RAM

YUP. Not to mention there's no HEVC support so encoding with AVC so there's more wasted space for not much performance benefit.
