How to Edit and Test Sernix Theater Files
A few people have asked me to show how to do basic editing and testing of Sernix theater files. Knowing how to do this will give you a greater understanding of the game, how it works, and additional insight into specific aspects of the Sernix mod. It will allow you to change almost all the values of everything on Sernix as well as playtest those changes made to the theater files in a singleplayer fashion. Let's get started.

YOU WILL NEED TO UNSUBSCRIBE TO THE SERNIX THEATER WORKSHOP FILES FIRST! (You can resubscribe when you are done messing around.)

Files You'll Need:

Sernix Theater files:

unrar this into your insurgency2\insurgency\cfg directory

This turns on tracers and makes bots stand still and don't react to players.

If you wan to use the map that I test things on often:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gb6o3h40702jefm/sdk_coop.rar?dl=0

Unrar that into your insurgency2\insurgency\maps directory

To start a listen server, open game >> open console >> type: map sdk_coop

Just to be absolutely clear, both the "resource" and "scripts" folders extracted from the dy_theater_v1_4_1_2__5-9-930_MW2.rar file go directly into this directory (your exact file path may vary):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\insurgency2

I'm 100% sure there's going to be a ton of questions and general panic about editing your theater files, don't worry even if you completely mess it all up you can always delete everything (the theater file folders) and try again. I'd suggest extracting the theater.rar file somewhere outside your insurgency program files and copying them into the insurgency2 folder in case you ever want to reset them.

I'm also sure I was extremely confusing and vague about how to do all this so don't feel bad asking dumb questions. I'll probably end up re-doing the video once a sufficient level of general confusion has been reached.

Alright, let's see how this goes.

Thanks Blueshy!

Edit: Around 5:44 you mention that Daimyo added some of the commands we see in listenserver.cfg. Where can we find the code behind the commands, or can we? I'm no programmer, but those commands remind me of a function call in Bash. Thanks.

Those a basically all just console commands that are run automatically by the configuration file when a singleplayer game is started. You could theoretically manually input all of them yourself. Daimyo just created a config file that will load them all at once automatically.*

As far as the actual functions behind the commands I'm pretty sure those are within the source code of the game itself and are unavailable for us to view. *

*All of this should be couched in the qualifier "As far as I know..."
