I can't seem to sugest words (I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it) to games on Steam. I am kept 12th in line, for 4 hours.

^^
Sven Cakemann 10. Okt. 2013 um 14:08
I was told by someone at Valve that they'll be looking at our progress again next year prior to Talk Like a Pirate Day. We might go official if we can get some progress done.

Can we take a trip to Valve or something to get us some official support? There's so many translated strings and it's a shame for it to be just a demo forever.

How often do applications get reviewed? I have been checking daily for the past week or so, but there are always 12 applications pending review.

Translation:

Yarr mateys, how off-ten do ye landlubbers reckon it takes to look at a godforsaken submitted bit o' parchment. It's been 10 leagues wit' nay a sight o' land an' I can feel th' bastard Davy Jones laughing at my back sides.

Question, do we pirate translators get access to the translators lounge?
TayloR 14. Nov. 2012 um 10:29
I'd like to help translate English to Pirate. What needs to be done?
H3NTES 4. Nov. 2012 um 3:27
do what you want cause a pirate is free you are a pirate
Nymphie ♣ @World 5-3 25. Sep. 2012 um 16:31
I'll work on the rest of TF2 tomorrow morning. Just all of the "As a" things. I submitted 1 the other day to get it started.
Nymphie ♣ @World 5-3 1. Sep. 2012 um 10:04
There is at least one translation for each Closed Caption now in the TF2 > Closed Captions
When an admin gets the chance, look over them and either approve or comment on what needs fixing. If you pass them all then that section is done and can be closed off.

Oh, wow, really? xD You mind if I ask how it went over with the crowd?
Dr. Cat 13. Apr. 2012 um 3:58
And for example, I showcased our work last year after my small lecture about (surprise surprise) localisation.
Rocket! 12. Apr. 2012 um 21:11
Initially, yeah. xD It was a leftover option of sorts on the Steam Translation Server, meant to show off to English-only folks how the translating went about. Pirate was left in and, somewhere down the line, people started really translating and getting organized! The Steam Translation admin that works at Valve continues to approve Pirate translation strings everyday. Despite having gotten a potential deadline for translating all of Steam, though-- last year's Talk Like a Pirate Day, a deadline we met-- Valve has turned around and said they're not interested in making Pirate happen. And people have been jumping ship ever since-- who wants to translate something that'll never make it into the game, hmm? Pirate remains a language on Steam, and Pirate language moderators can still export translations of Steam and Valve games into formats Steam and those Valve games can use, but not a lot of people hold out hope for an official Pirate release. You can find some WIP Pirate files above. ^^
SnowCanary 1. Apr. 2012 um 8:47
I finished the Half-Life 1 files awhile back, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to work for a public release. Any ideas?
ghost girl toes defender 25. März 2012 um 15:16
There's obviously public support for Pirate, plus Thor and Valve hold Pirate on an equal level as they do the other teams (for instance, we were given access to the DOTA 2 beta & DOTA secret shop). The only difference is pirate probably won't be shipped. Doesn't mean we should stop or treat the language differently. Just release the files as a public, non-Valve endeavour.
ghost girl toes defender 25. März 2012 um 15:14
I say we continue translating as if Pirate will be used.
Rocket! 25. März 2012 um 11:02
Alright, been thinking on this, want an honest opinion from everyone with an honest opinion to give if it's no trouble: "demonstrational language" sounds to me like a good reason not to START translating Pirate, but a terrible reason for not using a FINISHED Pirate translation. If the work's already done, it should be judged on what it IS, not what it was SUPPOSED to be, right? Inside voices, now.
nuggs 25. März 2012 um 3:09
When I translate I keep in mind there's a chance it WILL be used.

It is rather painful continuing to translate knowing that it may never be used, AND there's no real glory in it.

There is a disclaimer on the main page:

DISCLAIMER: Pirate on Steam Translation was intended as demonstrational language on STS functionalities. Translations for this language are unlikely to ever be shipped for Steam or any Valve games. I apologize to anyone submitting translations in high hopes that this language will eventually be shipped once completed. However, at some point in the future this might still happen, but it is highly unlikely to happen for 2011. The Pirate localization files remain downloadable in the export section.

Rocket! 19. März 2012 um 18:44
On a game-by-game basis, or when ALL the games are translated?
ghost girl toes defender 19. März 2012 um 17:33
I suggest, after we finish the Pirate strings for games, we export .txt's which can be publicly made availble.
Rocket! 19. März 2012 um 16:08
Any mods have Day of Defeat? We're up to 117 strings needing moderatingness in there.
Rocket! 17. März 2012 um 17:32
Torsten-- STS Admin-- has passed on word that Pirate's not going to happen, saying the language was intended to show off what the server could to to English speakers. There was some riling up and questions asked that were never answered, and then people started drifting off. Pirate Mods can export txt files that'll get the supported games to use Pirate though. If there's enough people interested that want to keep working on Pirate (out of personal interest or hope in seeing Pirate on Steam yet), then I'm willing to start exporting those Pirate txts on a monthly/bi-monthly basis.
