Animal strut was mentioned in the last official playthrough (the one about FOB mode). He'd know it too if he watched it.

I heard about the strut, but I didn't know if the animals couldn't roam. I saw from one of the first gameplay trailers the first sheep they airlifted was wandering around one of the struts, so I assumed all animals could.

Yeah, this sucks, all those dreams of filling your Motherbase with sheep to the brim... Well, the game is not out yet so we don't know if maybe there's a way to bring them over. Yeah, there was that one sheep that was next to Jackie, it bugs me but I guess it was made for comedic effect just for that trailer.
