You have two options in deciding your abilities scores for you chars (found on pages 12-13) in the players handbook. If you choose to do the 27 point buy then you are set, no further instruction. However, if you choose to roll your stats then you must take on atleast one character flaw (lost an eye, brittle bones, etc).
