I apologize I have to be critical again. However, I absolutely refuse to bend the knee over and admire the whole even in the name of the community (because it’s Id) when in reality it was nothing worth mentionable. I hadn’t been expecting anything mindblowing or extraordinary. The standards were some news and hearing players having a great time in Dallas. That’s it! Was it too much to ask? After concluding the results, I absolutely guess so…

I wouldn’t call it a proper “Con" when we have the “creative” director playing Doom Eternal with some dude (poor Midnight, lmao) for hours and talking about nothing, while the whole thing is being broadcasted on Steam. Aaaannd, nothing else? Oh, I almost forgot, we had discounts on Zenimax games too and you could get some related digital stuff if you watched that “show” for 10 minutes (I got the’ like 2 days later, my friend received nothing)…Hurray?

…Of course, you have the right to accuse me of thinking too much into QuakeCon as a fan….Maybe I should accept that my almost lifelong wishes are now ungrantable due to the fact that the industries’ common practices have changed over the last 15 years. Maybe I shouldn’t base my hopes on the glorified moments that are nothing but faded memories for most players (or they don’t even know about them). Maybe I should adapt to the current conditions and forget what was good a long time ago. Maybe I shouldn’t treat it as a huge and cathartic event…

Yet there are undeniable pieces of evidence from overall years about the less care from Id’s side that I cannot miss out on and have to point out as flaws since these can result in irreversible damage (sooner or later). You can again argue that I want too much out of QuakeCon or simply I’m just a salty bitch who cannot enjoy anything for real in life. I’m open to opinions.

• No fan meeting and held competition like it was for years. Pretty lame
  
  
• If Hugo boy wanted to play games, why only Doom Eternal? We got so many god damn amazing titles, why stick with ONLY ONE? When the whole event is NOT only about Doom? This is a very serious letdown for me.
  
  
• No news, no hints (I don’t count low-effort clickbait YT videos as reliable sources). The pure sign of uninterest really came through when I couldn’t even find a “properly” written piece of article about the event or what really happened there. We all know that game journalists will like to jump on any given opportunity to pretend they work hard for their salaries. But in this case, they had to look somewhere else. The only thing I could find was this thing that overall said nothing new:

  We know that Doom is seemingly being sent to rest for now and at the same time Quake is coming forward. Most likely a Quake 1 remake/reboot is currently under development. But we have been aware of this since 2021 or sooner. No other project is under construction that’s for sure. By the way, they had the chance to talk about this at E3, didn’t happen, we had QuakeCon, I bet most didn’t even care it was on. Sad, but that’s how it is.
  Also, don’t try to defend the thing with “but dumbass, they never say anything on QuakeCon, bruh”. Yeah, just because it’s a bad practice doesn't mean it has to be accepted.
  
  
• Quake Champions is another bitter case of a quick chew toy. It’s something to be there but at the same time means nothing. I don’t call this a bad game or pretend it’s a disgrace, don’t get me wrong. My problem is it just got thrown out of Early Access all of a sudden when the truth is it could have happened much sooner and even have even more care put into it. The echo didn’t shock the community too much which is a direct symptom of neglect. I wish the best for the game though, I don’t want it to be another failed title that nobody will play after a year or less. Because it doesn’t deserve it.
  
  
• The last thing: the Steam library smash. Personally, I think it was totally pointless to commit. Now the whole system is even more confusing and chaotic. Who the hell had this brilliant idea? Like seriously…
  Besides they had the audacity to screw up the pages yet we still can’t get achievements, cards, and badges from old titles. Do we have to wait another 10 or 15 years for that? Or It’s gonna be abandoned like bringing back currently unavailable games? I’m very skeptical about this one…
