Dark Ambient.

Dark ambient (called ambient industrial, especially in the 1980s) is a genre of post-industrial music characterized by an ominous, dark humming and often dark, monumental or catacombal atmosphere, partly with dissonant overtones. It shows similarities to ambient music, a genre that has been cited by many dark ambient artists as a major influence both conceptually and compositionally. Although dark ambient is mostly electronically generated, it also includes sampling of hand-played instruments and semi-acoustic recording procedures, and is closely related to ritual industrial music.
