I'm a 20 year old student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois. I've wanted to be a game developer since I was 11 years old when my best friend introduced me to RuneScape. I'm currently working as a software engineer summer intern at EA Sports in Orlando. I don't really like sports games, but hey, it's a job in the industry and nonetheless just as fun!
I've only been interested in anime for the past few years. I've seen Clannad 8 times (7 times in English dub, once in Japanese with subtitles), and every time I watch it I cry harder and harder. I like all of Key/VisualArt's works, but Clannad is the only one that I could really relate to. Didn't cry during Angel Beats!, Air (maybe I did once, can't quite remember), or Kanon. I love Clannad so much because it made me realize how important friends & family are. My parents got divorced when I was young, so I used to have a lot of hostility toward my family, but after watching Clannad I realized how foolish I was and managed to reconcile. Now I rarely go a single day without talking to them. I've even seen Clannad with my mom twice.
My favorite videogame franchise is Ratchet & Clank. Other favorite videogames include Final Fantasy X, Skyrim, Forced, and Diablo II. I don't play multiplayer games very often, but I have tons of games on Steam so let me know if you ever want to play!
Aside from Clannad, my favorite anime include Steins;Gate, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, and Fairy Tail. This is actually kind of surprising because I usually only watch romance/drama anime.
If you ever want to talk about Clannad or anything else, feel free to add me either on Steam or Facebook! Facebook Page[www.facebook.com]
Nice to meet you everyone!
I was only recently introduced to anime and Clannad is one of the first few I've seen.
I've since watched it eight times! Gosh I love having my emotions totally wrecked xD
I often play games outside of school and work. Check my profile if you're interested in finding out more about me =D
I'm a 17 year old Australian guy who likes to socialize with others. My favorite video game genre would be online FPS. I love spending my time with computers and gadgets.
I've went into the anime world last year by searching for new game genres on my phone which is called visual novels. My first VN was Kira*Kira. The novel was really touching and one of character routes in the novel made me cry a lot. That's how I started liking anime and Japanese culture.
I'm also a huge fan of Halo series and people on the online community have known me as "Grunt Attack" or "Grunty" for short.
Halo (Series)
Phantom Breaker
Goldeneye Source
Rise Of Triad
Super Smash Bros (Series)
Clannad is one of best emotional stories that touch my feelings. The themes were portrayed perfectly in Clannad, like the family issues Tomoya had in the beginning of the show. It's also packed with comedy as well. I love the scenes where Akio talks crap about Sanae's bakery food. I truely admire Key/VisualArt's masterpiece.
Clannad was like one of the first anime I watched years ago, it's still one of my favorites today because it's one of the few and only animes that taught me a lesson! Some other animes I like are Hyouka, Steins;Gate, and Little Busters!
Fujibayashi Kyou - I'm actually from the Boston area myself! Lived for 17 years in Hopkinton and have been living in Waltham ever since (but I go to school in Illinois). So you lived in Boston until you were 8? Have any memories from it? I can't seem to remember anything from my childhood except for random bits and pieces xD
And we should play DIII sometime! I've got a 70 monk I've been working on gearing. Unfortunately my internet connection is so bad at my hotel I'm not even going to bother to try playing on it. But once summer ends we should :D
Fistful of Kyou - the scenes with Akio insulting Sanae's cooking are the best! When Tomoya reveals that Akio was doing it to make Nagisa laugh I cried so hard. I always thought he was just crazy. Maeda Jun and everyone else responsible for Clannad is truly gifted :)
Strikercups - Only one lesson? ;)
Steins;Gate! Rock on! Have you seen Robotics;Notes? Not nearly as good as S;G imo but was still really enjoyable.
Sorry I took so long to post here!
About myself:
I am 19 year old Canadian who loves Clannad, trading, Key, and steam badges.
Aside from Clannad I am a huge fan of Fairy Tail, Itazura na Kiss, and anything related to Key. As for video games The last of Us and Kingdom Hearts are my favorites.
Feel free to add me on steam!
No, I'm not familiar with anyone in this group haha. Would love to play with some of you and socialise though!
Yup, born and raised. I remember the food since it's much tastier there than it is here (regardless of it being unhealthy xD). Not much else besides old school friends and the local neighborhood.
Would love to play DIII sometime but I haven't found any strong bits and pieces for my witchdoctor yet. My battletag is desacrip#6806 if you want to add me!
No I haven't watched it yet, honestly I'm not too interested in watching it lol. But Steins;Gate probably made me think more than any other anime, which made it so good, so I don't think Robotic;Notes can do the same thing
LOL, I'm from the opposite side of the Australia which means that I'm living in NSW. So that's no chance that we know each other IRL :O
Mmm, do you have any connections with them at moment?
I forgot to mention, by my sister studied abroad at Wollongong University several years ago. My family took a 2-week long trip all over Australia to visit her. I agree, the food in Boston is much tastier albeit unhealthier :) Although, you do have Hungry Jack's! xD Only cultural food I remember eating when I was in Australia was kangaroo jerky. I really liked it though! My favorite part of the visit was when we went to some prison ruins from when Australia was a prisoner colony. Very interesting! And the indigenous people are awesome! DIDGERIDOO! My sister can't go back to Australia though because she got a couple speeding tickets right before she left and never paid them xD
Fujibayashi - I'll add you on DIII next time I logon! Probably this weekend.
Strikercups - Robotics;Notes requires quite a bit of thinking actually, but nowhere near the level of Steins;Gate. Still, the main character has to go around finding clues and figuring out who's good & bad, similar to Okabe in Steins;Gate. If you find yourself looking for an anime to watch, I would recommend it (especially if you're also into mecha, which I'm actually not).
Ah that's actually the main reason I was hesitant to watch it, not a fan of the mecha genre, but I guess I'll watch it soon lol. What are some good animes similar to Clannad? I'm pretty deprived of anime atm :( (I already watched all of Key's works)
Even that doesn't fully satisfy these taste buds. The first time I was offered kangaroo meat was when I was 9, which confused and worried me since they have it as their iconic animal haha
Fujibayashi - any reason you have me quoted as saying that? :P
Yeah, last I checked, Australia is the only place that eats their national animal xD
Ya clannad was the anime that made me get into anime lol, but considering how amazing Clannad is, what do you think is the one thing that will make the show even better?
