Why are games requiring 100gb?

We need to call out excessive game sizes. We don't need to buy a whole new hard drive every time we buy a new game.

Devs just bloat their game sizes by upscaling textures to 4k around the board with little regard for compression.

Personally I believe the largest contributor is that Devs have an obsession with ultra-HD triple ray traced textures. If we can make it so that the HD textures are optional downloads, that should solve this issue.

I'm half-convinced that the reasoning is anti-competitor in nature.
"Players can't play other people's games if we monopolize their hard-drive space."

On console I'm 100% convinced that that's a thing. Call of Duty and other games want to take up your whoel fucking hard-drive.
On PC it's less plausible to take up the whole thing, since people are walking around with 100tb of HDD space in their pocket.
