Well, everyone, thanks for staying with us for a year and three months. It’s been awesome. We stuck it out through some tough issues and some conflicts in-house. Unfortunately we can’t make it out of this one. As I stated in an earlier announcement, the failure of Awesomium to be updated is killing off Cinema and we can’t keep hosting a dying server.

I wish there was some feasible way to give back, honestly. I can’t return all the donations we used and I can’t return all the time people spent on the server. I’m super grateful that there have been some of you guys who used your time on our server, and I’m super-duper grateful to those who used their hard-earned money to keep us afloat.

Today is most likely the day that Aura Cinema ends, though if there is any chance we can come back with an updated framework, I’ll consider it. For now, we’ll have Aura retire.

Anyone is free to comment here or add me personally to talk to me about anything. I would still work as a Coder as stated in my profile description, if needed. I also assist in voice acting, graphic design, and website design.

This group won’t be deleted, as I like the memories of looking at it, but all threads are locked and all links regarding the server will be removed. Awesomium and Why It's Killing Cinema

Awesomium

Before we get into anything, let me explain what Awesomium is:
Awesomium Core is basically an "engine" of sorts that drives a lot of features in a lot of different parts of Garry's Mod. It's sort of a browser in itself but a heavily outdated one. It's missing an astonishing amount of features and it is no longer keeping up to today's standards.

The Issue

With Awesomium not being updated in so-long-I-can't-remember, a lot of features in Cinema are not working as well or at all. With us making progress on KissAnime/Cartoon/Asian as a service, we have encountered a good amount of problems that more or less wouldn't exist if Awesomium was as good as today's browsers. Awesomium still relies on Adobe Flash Player, which is in itself being removed from everything essentially. Ever noticed how your YouTube player changed and is most likely a lot smoother? Your Twitch player? These videos are running on the new HTML5 video player, which is quickly becoming the new standard.

With HTML5 becoming the new standard, once these sites drop Flash support, it's over for Awesomium and essentially Cinema in it's entirety. While it will affect many other gamemodes and some addons, Cinema will be hit the hardest more than likely. It's an issue I have watched over closely since I was informed about it.

What does this mean for Aura Cinema?

What it means for us personally is that we are considering shutting down the server. It's not possible for us to keep supporting a gamemode that is dying off. If this is not an issue someone can dedicate to working on, we cannot promise that Aura Cinema can stay as it is.

We are open to the idea of hosting other gamemodes or having our community move towards something else. If you have any ideas, let us know! We love and appreciate you guys for staying with us, and it would surely suck if we have to say goodbye to you all for this reason.

What can YOU do?

If you are experienced in networking coding languages and the such please look into working on Awesomium. Without it, we lose a lot. If you are someone who isn't experienced and just enjoyed the server, hope for the best is really all I can say.

I estimate another few weeks or so and we will completely shut down, either permanently, to move on to something else, or temporarily until someone proposes a fix. I will not keep paying for what is breaking day-by-day.

If it's map textures, you might not have Counter-Strike: Source installed (you need to run it at least once) or it's textures were installed incorrectly (if you don't own the game). If that doesn't solve it, here's the download for the map: https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=158596376
