Discipline, Skill, Respect

The 2nd battalion embarked for the Italy and took part in the Battle of Maida in July 1806 It also took part in the Alexandia Expedition in spring 1807. Three companies of the regiment were captured at Al Hamed near Rosetta: among the prisoners was Thomas Keith who converted to Islam and entered Ottoman service.The battalion then took part in the disastrous Walcheren Campaign in autumn 1809.The battalion embarked for Holland in 1813 and took part in a skirmish at Merksem in January 1814.The battalion returned home in 1815 and the two battalions amalgamated again in 1816.

Discipline - Without discipline there is no regiment, it is as simple as that. In the 78th Regiment of Foot you will find discipline and follow the rules and guidance of your officers and friends within the regiment that will give you it.

Skill - In this regiment we take pride in the skill that our members hold in leadership and combat. Our officers are very skilled not just in combat but in leadership of the community, and our rankers follow the same steps that give our officers that skill.

Respect - If you become a member of this regiment and take follow the steps of Discipline and Skill you will find respect not just among the rankers but from the officer staff; however, in order to have respect you must earn it through commitment, hard work and loyalty.
