"Valve Admin" Scam
Hi, everyone. Last night I was offered a trade from some random person and I didnt trust him but being the kind hearted person that I am, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He said that he had been scammed the day before and wanted a valve moderator to act as a middle man. Well long story short. This is a scam, I lost about $75 worth of skins because I trusted someone and dont want to see others in this community to fall into the same mistake as I did! Peace & Love, Hex

Too bad you didn't see the couple thousand previous threads about this exact same scam, posted with the same sentiment...
Most people on the forums are already very much aware of this common scam. There is no such thing as a "Steam Admin" or "item verification", middlemen trades go against the Recommended Trading Practices. Valve staff never have any reason to "verify" an item and even if they did they wouldn't need you to trade it to them to do it. The steam interface warns you several times that you are giving the items away as a gift and will get nothing in return.

Sadly, somehow this scam keeps finding new people who fall for it.

All you can do now is report the scammers on their profile and not fall for it again.

Like I said in a previous post that got taken down, it is what it is. I personally had never heard of it before yesterday but thats life. You learn from mistakes. Just wanted to attempt to make the community more aware if not aware already.

All you need to realise is that there is no such thing as a Valve admin. We have community moderators who have nothing to do with Valve and we have Valve employees who you will probably never see, Neither will get involved with trades.
OP, i think valve should block your account from trading for at least 1 year. Clearly you have no idea how to trade reguardless of excuse.

I know its nothing personal. Just wanted to spread awareness if there was someone that came across my post first and didnt know about it before.

By that logic YOU had to have been aware since people post about this all the time. And since you weren't, what does that tell us about YOUR thread? Go ahead, take a guess.
