before i buy it, wanted to make sure you can play it single player offline

You can, yeah. Can even do the end-game stuff offline too - it's worth noting the multiplayer side of things is peer-to-peer, so that all still works fine anyway.
Not interested in online stuff, just single player stuff, thanks. Will buy it tomorrow :)

Multiplayer is peer-to-peer, so it works fine. (We've been playing some four-player co-op missions.)
