Secure ROM is there a need to revoke = activation limit

historical DRM hm...
i remember those days there have been activation limits, format c, fresh install, one more activation gone as long as you did not revoke it before
so here any experiences if activation limit and so?
auto renewal every 30 days or gone and worthless game then?

BTW, if you simply formatted your disc and reinstalled the game, your activation count won't increase:

2.7 I have formatted my PC without revoking the application before, does that mean I have lost an activation?

No, you did not lose an activation due to formatting your hard disc. [...] the Product Activation servers recognize that the request is coming from the same PC (with matching hardware ID)
