Fix for all RTX Cards
Hello everybody,

For all those with the map hanging on an RTX card or going black, here is the ultimate solution:

Step 1: download dxvk (DirectX for Vulkan) https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases
Step 2: unzip and go to the extracted folder
Step 3: Look for the "d3d9.dll" file in the "x32" folder
Step 4: Copy the file "d3d9.dll" into the main folder of the game
Step 5: start the game and look forward

Hope could help :)

EDIT:

Important: It must be the "d3d9.dll" in the "x32" folder, because TDU is an x32 program!

Cool.

I don't know if it works (can't check it myself), but it's always good to have an option to try.

So far, it seems to be working (2070 SUPER).
It worked! Tried it on Hawaii. Opened the map from a zoomed perspective. Opened it from a zoomed out perspective. Worked perfect. Moved the camera all over the map real quick and everything loaded in just fine. Did a championship as well. I did experience a crash but it happened when I restarted a race, not map related.

GTX 2080, i7 7700k, 32 GB Ram, Windows 10.

Seems to fix the map, however, it does not allow me to minimize the game when starting up (I need to minimize it on startup for about 15-20 seconds to avoid stutter during gameplay).

So I have no stuttering when playing. Everything runs smoothly. The game should also be played at max 59Hz, since higher frequencies don't seem to be supported. I played at 144Hz and the game freezes after about 1.5 hours. Everything has been going smoothly since I started playing at 59Hz
Interesting. I was set to 60 when I had my crash. Will try 59.

Another option would be to install DirectX 9 on Windows 10.

Step 1: delete the d3d9.dll in mainfolder (if u use it on first post)
Step 2: download DirectX9 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109
Step 3: Double click on the file directx_Jun2010_redist.exe.
Step 4: You will be asked where the setup files should be extracted to. Select any folder, for example a new "DirectX 9" directory on your desktop.
Step 5: Then open the folder and double click on the DXSETUP.exe file. DirectX will be installed after you agree to the license terms.
Step 6: Finally click on Finish.

For me that also works too without the d3d9.dll in the first post. other games that use DX9 also work with this too

As far as I can tell so far this works without fail! All map zoom levels no crashes where previously there would be plenty of them. (RTX 2070 Super) Thanks for the fix man!

Works for me with a 2060. Thank you sir.
Now im getting crashes in other places I wasn't before. All menu transitions so far. Obviously I can't be certain it's because of this fix

I have been playing today and I get crashes about every 40 min, but I can't say it's due to this fix as it's never run with my 2060. Random crashes during free drive, but the most clear cut for me is every time I get a new license, but if I restart I get through the license cutscene right away. It's an older game on new hardware and we are band aiding it to work. So who knows.
