I don't know if it works (can't check it myself), but it's always good to have an option to try.
please give feedback if it works for you
GTX 2080, i7 7700k, 32 GB Ram, Windows 10.
I am happy if it helps you :) Hope it will help others too
Step 1: delete the d3d9.dll in mainfolder (if u use it on first post)
Step 2: download DirectX9 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109
Step 3: Double click on the file directx_Jun2010_redist.exe.
Step 4: You will be asked where the setup files should be extracted to. Select any folder, for example a new "DirectX 9" directory on your desktop.
Step 5: Then open the folder and double click on the DXSETUP.exe file. DirectX will be installed after you agree to the license terms.
Step 6: Finally click on Finish.
For me that also works too without the d3d9.dll in the first post. other games that use DX9 also work with this too
I have been playing today and I get crashes about every 40 min, but I can't say it's due to this fix as it's never run with my 2060. Random crashes during free drive, but the most clear cut for me is every time I get a new license, but if I restart I get through the license cutscene right away. It's an older game on new hardware and we are band aiding it to work. So who knows.
