Ignoring the OPs really sad and pathetic attempts to troll, I think you make a point.
Right now MMOs are on the way out for simpler to make battle royales and sandboxes. But then I remember that we used to say the same things about CRPGs, that they were a thing of the past with all the shooter RPGs out there like Mass Effect 2. Now CRPGs are making a come back.
So maybe in a few years, there may also be an MMO resurgence and MMORPGs will make a come back.
I honestly wish this game would die so that another company can make one thats modern, instead of ~2010.
The reality is it is a niche game with a niche audience that happens to have a dedicated base of whale support that allows it to keep running. I am on the low end of the whale scale but there are some mega whales out there. This is how the game remains running. Ugly truth but truth.
So, you best get used to romulain/tac/aliens being kings of the roost balance wise and new content to be event based. Its just what they can afford to do. I am not simping for STO. I just like the base gameplay and understand what is the situation.
I would LOVE for GB to fix these issues but in no way do i expect it. This does not make the game "trash" objectively.
This. Cryptic has become a master of minimal effort, maximum profit. Twice a year putting out one or two new episodes is their idea of new content. Then release a bunch of reskinned ships at $120 - 200 USD into the in-game store, then the rest put into a gambling box that you have something like .0001% chance of actually getting.
The odd thing is, there are people that have zero problems shelling out $120 for a new ship reskin. I mean you could play two new AAA games for that price, and these people just keep shelling it out, and as long as the big whales will keep shelling out $120 every couple of months, Cryptic/Gearbox won't change it.
I've even asked on the main forums why they don't break apart the bundles and sell everything after a year or so seperately, and was told point blank "there's no profit in doing that as long as customers are willing to pay $120 for the whole bundle, or even more once it hits Mudd's"
The good news is, that Cryptic will still release a bunch of free ships or give you a chance to get a free T6 ship every summer, winter, and annually. They're not usually the best ships out there, those they save for the mega-whales, but they're not bad.
I would point out, that response was likely from another player and not a Cryptic employee.
I do love this game and i am 60 year's old . i have seen everything star trek. and the story lines have been fun too.
