Question 1: which way up is the sign ?
Question 2: why is only one of the four stones around the drums lit up ?
The order of the pillars becoming active is fixed. But the order of platforms that you have to jump on is randomized, so after each jump you have to consult the puzzle map and orient yourself to the active pillar (either by rotating the camera or by doing the rotation in your head).
There's a diagram of the 3x3 grid on the wall, with one drum lit. That's the one to step on next.
You don't know which way up the grid is.
But at all times one of the four rocks in the four corners of the playing area is lit.
For any step, if you are standing on one of the drums and look in the direction of the lit rock, you are looking at the grid the same way up as it is in the diagram on the wall.
The times when it DOESN'T change is garbage because it is auto fail, this puzzle should really be looked at again.
Case in point, it is pointing to the one in FRONT of me, yet if I jump to it it will be wrong.

At each step of the puzzle, you need to know which way up the diagram shown is. It changes with each step.
It's not hard to figure out, you just didn't think about it the right way. I have needed clues or walkthroughs for puzzles in many games over the years. They were working fine, I just didn't figure them out.
