This is passive skills, what you could use to improve your girls. You need 3 of them in total.
SR-suits is also recommended for Skill Awaking: they will give you two 8pp-potentials. This 8pps is useful on high-end game. Also, you might use them to swapping any missing SSR.

If you got all the awakening stones and zack dollars why not?
That being said, you need to prioritize which girls you love most to develop for the future projection. Along the way as she is being developed you can have other girls developed too. Depends on what suits the game thrown at you.

You need at least 1 strong POW girl and 1 TEC girl. But if the girl strong enough as to LV 70 above fully developed, thence she will crush any match through SSS+ rank regardless her affinity.

2-girls team this is eternal base. And collecting some suits with different skills allow you to make 2 different builds, which will dominate any events. For example:
1) 1st build: first pow-type girl (Kokoro, for example) with pow-suit, critical strike and killer Spike; second tech-type girl (Kasumi for example) with defensive skill and Fierce yell.
2) 2st build: first tech-type girl (Kasumi for example) with tech-suit, reverse attack feint and Sweet feint; second pow-type (Kokoro for example) girl with defensive skill and Fierce yell.

You might use the swimsuits with Miraculous Stamina instead of killer Spike and Sweet feint: they are best choice for newbies. Like this:

High-end girls can ignore the opponents "affinity" (specialisation); thats true. They dont need any defensive-skills, and they dominating any 12k-stats SSS+ even. It is possible to use the same-type girls even; for example Misaki/Kokoro (pow). All this $hit requires full-upgraded potentials, as i said early.

There's interesting builds you have.
I tried to exchange a few Rs (Skill Awakened, upgraded for a few levels and the base one) and for all of them I get 2 VIP points. I assume I'm doing something wrong, or this mechanics isn't working with outfits lower than SSR?

You should note you receive three different things depending on the rarity of the suit. Also note VIP coins are different than VIP points. VIP coins are the highest value ones used to buy Awakening Stones.

This is right. N/R is junk. Sell them to get vip-points, and exchange vip-points on food. The second (and maybe better) way to use N/R-junk is upgrade SR/SSR (especially accessories) with them.
Vip-points and VIP-Coins is two different currency. After some time, you will have tens thousands vip-points. And still not enough of Vip-Coins, cause this currency is valuable even on 180 owner-lvl. You'll continue gacha-rolling on high-lvl. and you'll still need to awaken them with Skill-Awakening SSR-Gems.

Hold on to awaken crystal for event that gives SSR bromides when you fully awaken.
Usually 3 suits.
If you get duplicate SSR use it to awaken the same SSR to get the skills.

It's better to hoard awaken gem and use them strategically.
But when I started playing, I used everything when I got it, I awakened Nanami's purple appeal Bursting Lover SSR.
Hoarding is min maxing it.
Now that I think about it, It's fine to go for it now. The new gamer experiencing level up is more important.
I've been playing for 4 years now, my mindset evolved. lol.
