This game has proven to be hard to figure out how to start playing, but basically you gotta go into the map part of the game(warband style), bring soldiers and workers with you to the forest nodes on the map, collect resources there(by ordering the workers to collect the resources in that area and there are already wagons and stuff they will place the resources in), then come back to base to use the resources.

It's actually a pretty creative way of collecting resources but why it was so hard for me to figure that out I have no idea. I think they have some work to do on a tutorial, my vote is that they create a very useful and lengthy guide(because although the guide in the menu is useful it feels short) and point people to it!

Sorry for the necro, but it seems like people don't really check the forums here too much. I'm having a terrible time trying to get going here. I love the concept and play style and stuff, it's a really cool game, and I want to get into it, but I'm having tons of issues.

I'm doing the golden dragon campaign. Firstly, the map UI was pretty weird to get used to (you get put in a completely black room and have to press random buttons or something?). I've kind of figured it out, how you move your king around to places, and enemies can attack, or you get to a town, where it brings you into a level kind of.
So, I made a town, for some reason could only get to 40 pop even though I had like 50 houses (I built way too many not realizing they were pointless). So is pop capped for some reason? How do you increase it? Also why?
Then I take my 40 villagers and go to the next area, I get immediately attacked so I have to make a barracks quick and make a few units, while I attack from my golden dragon. I win, then I make some houses, and my cap has increase to 50 now for some reason? So I make some units. I end up having the gold dragon, like 30ish villagers, then the rest spear and archers. So I go to the map, and I click on an orc to go into battle. Now, MOST THINGS ARE GONE!!! My dragon is gone, and all my warriors. So now all I have is a bunch of villagers. I quickly make another barracks, and make a few units. I go into combat mode and slash at stuff until they die. I look at my population, and it says like 40/50 or something, even though when I select all units my right hand says all I have left are like 8 villagers and 2 archers. So the game is telling me I have 40ish, while at the same time I only have like 10.

Why did I lose everything? What in the world is going on? I see you say you have to bring them with you you said, how do you do that? I'm just utterly lost and sad at this point.
