Buying only base Anno or is DLC a must?

I played Anno 1404 and it was a blast. There was only 1 DLC (rise of Venice), but didn't add much to the game play. Is it a similar case here or is there a must have DLC which alter the game play/improvement?

I watched several YouTube videos on the DLC and all of them looks more like a cosmetic addition or add negligible game play features..

1. 1404 is the better anno

2. basegame has more than enough content, some of the DLC add stuff that i personally don't even bother with, because i dont care.

Tbh if you are still fully on board with that, yes.

If you really want to give 1800 a spin, just get the basegame.

Although, i do not know what the definitive and 5 year editions have.. shop...doesn't seem to be wanting to tell, so if either of those have all the major DLC in them, they would probably be worth it

NGL Its on sale and you can get game and ALL DLC and cosmetic pacts for 65$ +(your tax)

I just got it but thats after watchign a bunch on playthroughs and not having enough for game and DLC but the guy I watch said its all onsale so i got it

A few DLCs add a LOT to the game (Docklands and Land of Lions) once you've gotten familiar with the game, others are very convenient to have from the get go (Bright Harvest, Seeds of Change), others you can do without

That being said, base game is already enough as it is

Land of Lions, The Passage and Sunken Treasure all add entire new regions to the game, and are well worth getting.

Base game is very good and complete, DLCs add a lot of new things

Thanks for all the feedback. I watched some more YouTube video's and decided to get the base game for now. If I really having fun and want more, I'll get the season passes later in the year. Looks like playtime on the base game will be definitive more than 100 hours to cover before touching the DLC's.

Some DLC may be worth getting right now. Bright Harvest adds silo's and tractors for farming, I don't think I could go back to not having them and there's almost no extra learning curve with them.
