[INFO THREAD] We might be getting a first game's remaster and more
The Talos Principle fans, I highly recommend joining the Croteam Discord server, because some wild things have happened recently regarding the franchise, especially the first game.

Yesterday, on 13th of November, an event was held on the Discord server. It was a guess the puzzle, in which the goal was to be the first person to correctly guess the name of the puzzle shown in the video. The puzzle was "Something about a Star" from the first game and in this video, you can clearly see the world and the puzzle remade in Unreal Engine 5. Additionaly, despite the event being hosted in community events, the video was posted in news and announcements.

Here is the video from the event, reuploaded to YouTube by one of the people who attended the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWIab7OA0ug&ab_channel=Kleerofski

Another clue that something is happening is a Damjan Mravunac clip that appeared on The Talos Principle 2 twitter, featuring a track which isn't in any of the franchise's soundtracks. What this leads us to believe is that we'll either get a new DLC or the first game's remaster.

One more clue - The Talos Principle is turning ten years old on 12th of December this year. So perhaps something big to celebrate this milestone?

UPDATE!!!

Today, a second guess the puzzle was held. Thanks to an easter egg QR code hidden in the bottom right corner, we found our way to this drive, which contains another puzzle remade in UE5.

---

IMPORTANT: NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE DEVELOPERS YET

The only thing that's 100% certain is that something IS coming in very near future for the franchise. But nobody knows what exactly it is.

The level in the video could have been made using a Talos Principle 2 editor as to showcase its power, or it could be a new DLC. Or it could be a The Talos Principle remaster. Or perhaps it was made like this just so the video looks cool or maybe just a deluxe soundtrack. Nobody knows.

---

I'm going to post this in the other game's forum as well.

Hope you have a great day!

If this is true, whatever. I am kind of in the camp that thinks it is unnecessary. The fact the original is meant to be a scrappy desperate attempt to create a simulation on an existing game engine lends itself well to being dated. A remaster for modern graphics breaks the immersion of the simulation being kept running years after humanity was wiped out from a virus. Seems like a slap in the face to the game's story. Like Alexandra Drennan and Trevor and all else at IAN got one chance to make the simulation and then died and had to hope it would keep running. It is even in the log entries which engine they used:

Hi all,

As per the last meeting, we're going with an existing game engine for the simulation. This gives us a whole slew of advantages:

- stability

- ease of use

- modular, easy to integrate

- large amount of pre-existing assets

- inherently aimed at testing users

- designed for iterative processes

After some back and forth, we've decided to use the Serious Engine 7.5, which Croteam have kindly made available to us.

All the relevant documents are attached.

- Alex"

So maybe they could argue the robots from the sequel tampered or remastered it, but I'd idk. Just how I feel about this idea

Like I said, nothing was confirmed yet. If the remaster variant is true, some people in the server share the same opinion that the original look feels more natural for the game. Honestly, most people just wish for a level editor for Talos 2.
But it would be cool if they added another DLC to TTP2 that would be a re-creation of the simulation from TTP1 (courtesy of the Archive Scholars)...
Mixed feelings. On the one hand, while playing through Talos 2 I kept wondering how the original would look in Unreal 5.

On the other hand, I agree with:

That's easy to answer - like TTP2 prologue(until awakening into the real world).

That doesn't apply to Roman and Medieval worlds :taloslol:
I just replayed TP1 over the weekend after beating it nearly a decade ago. I'm not sure a graphical remaster is warranted, but there are a number of quality of life issues they introduced in TP2 that I would love to see implemented in TP1, such as:

-Being able to keep existing connections on laser connectors when picking them up.
-When using the laser connectors to connect to laser emitters and receivers, the icons on the screen match the color of the emitter/receptor, making it easier to keep track of connections. (In TP1 they are always just white)
-Having three separate save files instead of a ridiculous "backup save" system.
"-Being able to keep existing connections on laser connectors when picking them up." this option is available in Talos 1, I don't remember if some default key is bind to this action but you can bind it from game settings.

It was always in TTP1 bound to the right mouse button. Although it was maybe not mentioned but people often found it by chance.
Another semihidden feature in TTP1 is holding key F to "fast forward" time. Useful on levels where you need to wait for something like moving bomb to pass by and also to run at ultra high speed (shift+F+forward).
You both are right. I was using a controller to play, and the default control setup doesn't have a "keep connections" button, but I was able to change to custom controls to bind it. So much better!
Why not a level editor for TTP2 ?

The only thing we know is, that Croteam would be happy to provide any modding or mapping tools for The Talos Principle 2. The problem is that The Talos Principle 2, unlike any previous Croteam games, is an Unreal Engine 5 game (all other games were made in Serious Editor, their very own engine) and they stated that they are unsure how possible that really is with Unreal 5.

They did not make any promises, but said they were going to discuss it. The level editor wasn't confirmed nor cancelled yet.

Cool!
I still really hope it's not a remake/remaster of the first game but new content.
