Server wipes? Please read for all relevant information
Since many people are wondering regarding server-wipes we though to provide a bit of information.

So first regarding our approach. All official servers follow session based approach with PvP servers having regular wipes with 3-week cycles while PvE servers following 6-week cycles to enable more casual gameplay and development.

For PvP players joining a fresh wipe is the most exciting time as it allows everyone to compete in a fresh economy and start from a common point. It brings interesting competition and arms race between players whenever the new "round" starts. After different experiments we have settled on this wipe frequency as the most optimal, giving more than enough time to fully develop your tech tree while still being relatively frequent allowing to participate in each new cycle without getting bored. This frequency has also been voted by players as the most optimal and proven historically (we did experiment with longer and shorter frequencies in the past). PvE servers also offer interesting ways to compete through economic and technological means, as well as social layer. Different factions (created either by solo players or groups of players) compete to reach higher places in the leaderbord.

The game is designed to be played in session manner and this is where the most fun lies. It is not a typical MMO with permanent characters. We are using the very same approach as games like Rust, Ark, Conan and many others where wipes are also a regular event or at least present in some capacity.

Thankfully there is also proper local-game support, so you are not dependent on the official wiping schedule and can always simply play a local game either solo or with friends. There are also hundreds of community and modded servers to choose from with different rules.

Additionally, you can even run your own dedicated server and customizing its settings and rates as you wish. It can be a public server, a private server, or even a modded server. With the recently introduced in-game server settings (server rates) menu you can configure dozens of various server parameters conveniently to really change the game to your liking. From the amount of loot or experience gain to even complete override of the game event system and many other aspects. The game is completely open and everything is in your hands!

We hope it can help you choose where you would like to play and get the most fun with CryoFall! :)
