Do I need to be hugging explosions to collect cash?

Hi I'm new.

Not sure if I'm understanding it right.

When ships explode they seem to drop some stuff? Some of it is just visual debris, but other stuff looks like powerups and cash? I saw things that repaired my ship. But also some things seem to give cash? It happens very quickly I can't be sure.

If I blow up a ship that is far away, do I not get any cash for it?

So to get more cash, do I need to always be hugging enemies before I blow them up?

Not necessary you can use the shield as a tractor beam.

BUT STILL... I have a lot of trouble collecting cash from explosion, and the only way I was able to collect cash is by hugging explosions... so can you fix this problem please Dr.Sauce?

If I don't have a shield, do I not get cash? If so, how do I get a shield? Also do I want to collect the odd yellow and green things that pop out of wreckage?

You get a flat amount for blowing up a ship and then you need to touch gold and green ammo that drops to get extra. Activating your shield at the gold and ammo pulls them toward you. Ideally, you want to be close to the explosion and even flying through it, but the shield tractor beam makes a huge difference. The second crew member gives you the shield, so you should always have it.

I always start with two crew, and I've never had a shield or sucked in loot. Wonder what I am doing wrong.

You literally start with a shield; did you not even bother to look at the controls? It tells you how to use it every time you start a new game
