Ring of Elysium

Nearly a Year...
This was not the first BR nor the last BR that I played. But it was the best and my favorite. I wish I had the skills or knowledge to have farmed the game files and made a local version of the game. I wish that Aurora/Tencent had marketed this game so SO much more and better than they did. I miss the slopes of Dione, I miss the monster trucks, the beetle wannabe. I miss the cross map flying from that cliff outside of Anduvari Mine. I miss tanking Ymir at Herschel Academy running through the halls trying to fight the last guy so only one person gets to win. I even miss those goofy turbines on Europa Island. Spawning outside of the cathedral only to fly up and fight the guys inside. The pirate ship.... oh my how fun it was.

I miss this game. I wish it hadn't gone the way it did. Nearly all of my online friends i have RN I made through this game. Memories, good times, aggravating hours long grinds for more and more wins. The transformation of the groza, the de-transformation of the groza, the re-transformation of the groza, the re-de-transformation of the groza... hell I'll say it, I miss the really really crappy M82A1.

To everyone who camped the top of the whale in Ocean Park with an M200, I still hate you and hope you stub your toe everyday of the rest of your life.

Bye guys. Hope we can get some kind of reboot in later days.

Dude I completely agree with you & thanks for sharing. ROE was such a uniquely fun take on the genre with regards to how you choose your location & conditions for winning. There are so many fond memories associated with Dione in particular like:

- Aerial combat with SMGs and hang gliders
- Snowboarding (literally every aspect of it)
- Making up cross country rally courses and seeing who can make it the furthest in whatever car you can find
- Battling 5 other teams for control of Sigel Castle
- M4 with compensator and vert foregrip
- Flying across the map from the towers of Fort Tyrfing
- Sneaking onto the helicopter as a team of 4 while everyone else fights for a spot
- Bad translations like the "Sluggish Blinding" gliders or the lore pages for the characters

Even Europa had its moments. Remember the first time you found the submarine and got in it? The detail of the underwater area was so cool to me. Or grappling into trees with the camo skins for easy picks (albeit extremely lame lol). I could reminisce about this game forever.

The solution to fixing dwindling player count was not adding 10 new guns that do the same thing and a boring flat desert map. The issues with the game were around optimization in my experience. It's genuinely sad. I used to get on just to see if I could find another human but I've long since given up. Glad to see someone still fondly remembers this game like I do after all these years.

I wish I had the foresight to save my old sessions. But this is hilarious.

I just regret taking for granted that the game would just always be there should i want to play it. Then it just wasn't anymore. The announcement that they were shutting it down forever was really kinda panic inducing because I wanted to go back and play everything all over again and again... But i couldnt.

On December 1st me and some friends are going to fire up the game just as a symbolic gesture. It may not mean anything or DO anything, but we are just going to do it for the symbolic nature of it.
