Much simpler than changing your settings a couple of times and whatnot. I did this with vsync on, without tabbing out of the game or anything. Just running at the hole then crouching and walking through.
Hope this makes it easier for someone in the future lol
Thanks, man. Worked perfectly. They way you said it I thought it would be kinda hard because I thought I would have to kinda run and crouch with the right timing, but wasn't hard at all.
It's like the invisible wall doesn't exist when you're running, even though it does when you're walking or crouching.
The three replies in a row really shows you're the better person xD
We don't know for sure if it really is just a matter of moving a barrier/checkpoint. We also don't know if they'd need to adjust a map file that has to be adjusted using certain engine tools they might not have anymore, or they could have an entirely different development setup nowadays and the old setup necessary to work on this maybe would take quite some time to get right.
Maybe, too, simply getting a developer out of their current workflow to immerse them in the old game tools and environment just to fix this bug might not be worth it for them. Maybe it could also be related to some weird deal/relationship with the publisher that makes it difficult for them to release any new update. Who knows, maybe it would simply need a big refactor, because the way they made certain checkpoints or doors necessarily tie to the geometry in a weird way, or because they would need to change the tent to something else and that would then create other problems because other characters would be able to see you.
I mean, not saying I believe any of these to be true nor that they are necessarily probable. Just that they're plausible. But I'm mostly playing as the devil's advocate here.
Either way I, personally—not saying I'm right or better, just that it's how I tend to think—would rather not judge if it's hard or not for them to fix this issue without having the actual internal details of the process of fixing and delivering the update.
As a developer, I've had to deal way too much with clients that simply do not believe when I say something would be complicated just because they can't possibly imagine how it would be complicated. There's even a classic xkcd comic about it: https://xkcd.com/1425/
But yeah, this bug sucks and got me quite frustrated at the time.
