Funny, with that 1 Howler's Speed point Skill from the red Jaguar, aka Warrior, skill tree, I've never had to pay attention to that ever again even when currently playing upon the "One with the Jungle" difficulty level.
It sure wasn't amongst my 1st picks but apart those situations it also tends to be useful vs. those South American 'Wolves', Moray Eels and also for facing that Nahual Jaguar.
Alongside with Puma's Faint which can also be used at least against 'Wolves' if you're facing'em head on when they start to charge at you (that's how I killed all of those that tried to mob kill me when doing The Forge DLC side mission right now at the "One with the Jungle" difficulty).
But then again I've finished my 1st playthrough of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider (SotTR) upon the "Rite of Passage" (aka Normal) difficulty with all skills unlocked (even that useless Crow's Charm skill because I haven't noticed getting any better prices from Merchants with it), available weapons upgraded to max.
And if I'll start a "Deadly Obsession" difficulty run, I'll simply use the "One with the Jungle" last save one to also possess all those "New Game +" weapons, skills and outfits unlocked, lthough just as an heads up I'm currently still using on purpose the Heart of the Eagle Bow because reached the conclusion that its "draw speed is better than the Viper's Bite Bow from the "New Game +" stuff and despite the Redding Bolt-Action Rifle can kill a foe carrying an helmet with a single headshot upon the "Rite of Passage" difficulty it's rather low firing rate encouraged me to keep using the Umbrage 3-80 - Shade that you obtain once you finish The Forge DLC sided mission for the silenced shooting or even the better than that although loud and starting Vicar Mark II Assault Rifle.
This guy with the super detailed response lol. Nice job dude.
I also remember being super relieved that there was an honest-to god checkpoint half way through the flood sequence. My soul almost left my body when I died during that area. Huge gap in saves.
If I manage to find easy to pass through difficulties tricks amidst my playing I tend to share my knowledge to eventually ease upon other people's experiences. For instance I can almost bet that you didn't knew about the Cloth and Fat exploit whenever you track back from Kuwaq Yaku's 1st Camp Fire into the Peruvian Jungle's cave entrance (particularly since Cloth is probably the most valuable resource into the game without you realising that it's used to do most crafting / traps stuff).
And although I like SotTR's story and surrounding ambiance it lacks the renewal of few foes unlike the 2 previous titles. And just not to mention that the game in general feels that it was helluva rushed out of development a lot, especially when you start noticing its way more mechanically buggy parkour system , when compared to the previous Rise of the Tomb Raider (RotTR) title.
No aggro ment at all dude. Huge respect. I just wanted to say to the OP that it's possible and not the huge mountain he maybe thinks it is. It's a great testament to the community that you can whip up such a detail response. When I consider myself a normie can only say "watch the 'E' key when climbing" lol
Howler's Speed - as has been said, stop worrying about ledges.
Jaguarss Intimidation
Jaguar Strength
Jaguar Rage
Jaguar's Paw
Jaguar's Fury
Puma's Feint
Puma's Brace
Kinich Ahau's Boon
Jaguar's Fear
Serpent's Rage
Serpent's Strike
Serpent's Fury
Serpent Evasion
Viper's Snare
Viper's Cunning
Viper's Lure
Caiman's Heart
Boa's Coil - so you don't have to stop to loot.
Heart of the Eagle is the best bow (complete the Ancient Studies Quest in the Hidden City), Exiled Fox's second. Silent Sting the best pistol. For the final Boss, the WHWS-16 shotgun - not so powerful, but fires so much faster, Make sure they're all fully upgraded
And keep moving, don't stay in one spot for more than a few seconds.
With the final Boss, concentrate on HIM, just ignore or evade the other guys.
Cenote is a piece of cake. In the ambush (the only fight) I don't even use any weapons (except for the archers!), just Puma's Feint. Needs good timing!
Good luck!
Well, I'm also just a 'normal' gamer that has been playing upon my spare times for over 3 decades now. And, moesty aside ofc, that's probably why I tend to have a more keen / detailed approach on how to explain things towards others so that they've got no doubts on how to approach things from other possible different angles (alongside with it being a trade required 'flaw' upon IRL). Sue me, if you will.
Although we all play differently, I still think that the initial AB .45 handgun with all its upgrades surpasses the Silent Sting - Scorpio/Silent Sting both in "rate of fire" and "ammo capacity" since you can also get a Silencer/Supressor for it from a Merchant (the Kuwaq Yaku's one, if remembering right). And even if the "reload speed" of either Silent Stings is greater it doesn't allow the same amount of "dishing out" accurate, but still silent shots and consequential kills.
---
And since I'm more of stealthy approach kind of guy, I rarely use Shotguns, even the silenced Whispering Sourge - Pandemic/Whispering Scourge since I prefer to relly on the combined synergies of Boa's Coil with Viper's Snare (being Viper's Cunning the awesome "New Game +" upgrade to it) to instantly loot a body, then quicklier place a trap on it and keep mobile so that foes don't track me and/or chase me. And, ofc, keeping mobile so that they don't get to find me to track / hunt down.
And if coupled with Serpent's Strike to strike unnoticed chaining with Serpent's Fury to more easily lay a mine field for foes, even better.
Alongside with the Viper's Lure Arrows for instant kills no matter where you aimed and thus also leaving a poisonous gas booby trap when foes passed near it.
For ex., that's how I easily made the DLC's side mission The Pilar when going from the initial broad arena by planting a Jaguar's Fear Arrow upon the other side of it, proceeding killing stealthilly and on occasion leaving Viper's Lure traps so that foes investigating get killed without me being even near that area. And then going from room to room doing similar, proceeding to narrowed hallways, occasionally being forced to use Puma's Feint and then lay an instant Viper's Lure trap and backing up a tad onto a cover to see if there are any Melee or Archer suckers to fall for it.
And all that until the very last arena that has lots of foliage to hide you if you Scramble between those spots (i.e., when they start coming down from the Helicopter simply use one Viper Lure's Arrow upon the 1st and almost assuredly the remaining 3 will die when roping down into the LZ).
More importantly, don't underestimate the apparently unimportant Owl's Meal blue skill to create Viper's Lure and Jaguar's Fear Arrows out of collecting Beetles and Spiders from using your Survival Instinct to more easily spot those. And pretty much always be nigh full upon each of those insects to craft those different types of Arrows.
---
For instance, to me an obvious trick is to never be on full supplies of anything (apart Cloth and around 50/60 Salvage) so that I can loot bodies killed by Viper's Snare traps and replace those. And that's why I've got the Satchels and Quivers upgrades the 1st chance I got from Merhants, even if it involved going back a tad to hunt for resources to trade.
(And that was how I've found that Peruvian Jungle cave always being full with Cloth and Fat exploit, around 6 of each, when coming from Kuwaq Yaku.)
---
And yes, I also tend to agree that facing the ground Yahxill upon the Cenote is far better done with Puma's Feint when luring those into covered areas where the Yakxill Archers can't aim to strike you. And then lay some occasional Viper's Snare trap and not repeat the process instantly if the bodies are too close to one another.
And for the Yakxill Archers nothing better than a Howler's Troop or its skill upgrade when using the previously mentioned Bow.

As you can see there are several different ways to solve the same problem and it's up for you to find those that are more suiting to your play style so that you can enjoy the game better.
I ended up doing the DO run on new game+ with all my skills, weapons and outfits carried over.
Glad to have been of assistance, lass.
And I've currently halted at my "One with the Jungle" difficulty playthrough just before starting the last main mission to go into the City of Sperpents to stop Amaru from stealing Kukulkan's powers to "remake the world" as he sees fit.
But I've mostly just done that to test the recently released Tomb Raider Eclipse game overhaul mod[www.nexusmods.com] upon my "New Game +" save just to spot the combat differences and yet at the same time when finished playing the SotTR with it obtain a "New Game +" already containing all of that mode's skill, weapons and outfits.
Although beware that already caught a tiny mod bug that may get you stuck into sliding after trying to Scramble into a narrowed height tunnel right at the Cozumel level and only undone it by purposedly moving into the water nearby.
