Is the game balanced around the time-saver DLCs?
Meaning, are they the actual intended baseline that "feels right"? I just purchased the game and am wondering if they pulled a Ubisoft to get people to buy the convenience packs. Not really a big deal, if so--just wondering.

It for sure feels like at the least they tried to get people to get the money booster.

anything below hard difficulty dies from autoattack.
I got the Premium Item pack. Seems to offer slight boosts that won't ruin the game. Hopefully it's a good middle ground between smoothing over the grind and not breaking the game's progression.

No, the DLC is mostly going to give you nothing EXCEPT the free levels (if you get too many of the free level ones). Any of the exp bonus stuff is trash because the game features such an overwhelmingly potent XP curve that it is, literally, impossible to be under or over leveled throughout the entire game with exception of a single possible instance (accessing the technically post game tier side dungeons early, like level 30 or such and killing the mobs/bosses in them which are level 50-70). To give you an idea of how potent that xp curve is I did kill the bosses in every single post game dungeon and 100% cleared those dungeons when I was initially starting them at around level 35 or so. The levels it gave me due to the enemy level difference gave me quite a number of levels. However, upon leaving them I gained zero levels for the rest of the game despite fighting every enemy at least once until end of game and then, finally, on the final boss I gained 1 level.

The weapon and food stuff will fall off pretty fast.

Since exp food doesn't actually work due to the prior point I suggest using TP recovery food, HP recovery food, and defensive (NOT offensive) food for this particular game. Defensive food for harder bosses is noticeably superior to offensive food because of how hard the bosses can hit at times.

I would suggest this one too

It set every required item to 1 to create items / weapons.

Also this one ^^
