the following information comes from me as a hardcore movie fan. i never watched the MLP TV show, and i am not familiar with the toyline. i am only a hardcore movie fan and gamer, as i have been addicted to movies and games. when i was in my tween years. all negative comments will be ignored. also, if you like my little pony the movie i respect your opinion.


Hello. i know you've seen bad movies, and i know you've seen animated movies that are bad. there are many cartoons that everyone has seen in the past. Thundercats, He-Man, GI joe, teen titans, The Spongebob Squarepants movie, and even Transformers, which some have made successful movies back then. when i heard that my little pony the movie came out, i was aware about this movie that it knew it was going to suck. and this movie came out in 2017, which is the same year as the emoji movie. i watched the trailer, and i cringed at everything that i saw.


DISCLAIMER: this is all my opinion. i respect all people, and some bronies if they are nice. i don't like or hate them. this is all my opinion on the movie and i've tried to provide the info in an unbiased manner. the purpose of this discussion is to explain why the movie is bad as i have only seen the trailer.



The Story: now, where do i begin on this movie? first of all in the trailer that i saw, it was about the peaceful race of ponies in ponyland or wherever they are, living their lives normally and celebrating peace and love like hippies in the 70's do. everything is fine, but then aliens, (yes aliens) invade their world and it's up to our protagonists to save the planet, and look for any allies that would help them stop the alien empire.

OK now that we got that out of the way, what do i hate about it? first of all this movie rips off the star wars movies (either the original trilogy, the new sequels like the last jedi or the force awakens, or episode 1 the phantom menace) where they have to stop an invasion and get the help of any allies on their way. Secondly, the story doesn't feel like it's movie quality. all they do is enter a strange area, come across someone, sing a song, escape danger whenever the bad guys arrive, and the cycle repeats. it's repetitive and gets old real fast for a movie. all that they're trying to do with this problem, is to sell more toys.


The Animation: the animation according to the trailer is mediocre. nobody does hand drawn animated films anymore, as most films are CG animated. the only thing that's CG in the trailer are the backgrounds and the buildings? that's it? just stick with either 3d animation or hand drawn! all i will say while watching the trailer is that the animation is just mediocre, enough said.


The Characters: i cannot believe with what hollywood has become now with it's SJW ways. most of the characters in this move are female, especially the main protagonist who is always a jerk towards anyone who tries to get help. the other characters are also not interesting. the biggest reason is that most of the side characters are mostly MALE. and sometimes characters are used as racist stereotypes as if they were played by a non-white person. for example there's an anthropomorphic cat who looks like tom from tom and jerry, that uses ghetto speech in some of his sentences just like a modern day african american. seriously? we need movies to directly move away from identity politics and could've just come up with something original


also the "antagonists" who i will call them "aliens" aren't that interesting as "antagonists" the aliens are obviously portrayed as Asexual gorillas wearing masks that all obviously have male voices. their leader is also a gorilla and he clearly is voiced by a male. they are clearly using identity politics as an excuse for their film


to compare this with the transformers movie from 1986, there are more interesting characters.
not only do we have characters that people know when they watch the cartoon, but NEW characters were introduced in this movie to not only sell more toys, but to have a newer cast for seasons 3 & 4 to come after the movie.


the soundtrack: i also forgot to mention that there's songs in the movie. really? why is there any need to put songs in your movie. disney did the idea better than you! i can tell when an animated movie has songs in it, it's trying way to hard to be disney. i guarantee this movie is cringier than the emoji movie. in fact, It's WORSE than the emoji movie.
but the biggest complaint that i have for this movie is that it's not even a kids movie, as the trailer shows a lot of action adventure movie cliches

in conclusion this movie is absolute garbage. give this movie a pass and watch a more entertaining movie based on a cartoon like the G1 transformers movie, the spongebob squarepants movie, or maybe even shrek or some animated disney movies that have a GOOD story. if little kids could watch this movie that's OK, but it's not reccomended for adults.


remember this is all my opinion. i respect all people, and some who are bronies if i assume they are nice. it's just that i don't give a damn. i only do NOT like the crazily obsessed bronies. the crazily obsessed fans are the real problem, the only ones who i assume to be nice, are the sophisticated normal kind. i'm just a normal person who has their opinions on movies and tell if they are good or not.
