Greetings!

The Shogun Set's release included the Shishi-odoshi with a bugged animation. It worked fine when playing inside the Unity Editor but not on the build. It took a while to figure out, and I'm not entirely sure which sequences of events fixed the issue. Which is troubling... BUT! it should work now.

• Fixed Creatures not having Display Names

In this release we're tweaking the new hide-plane placement logic to be more consistent and preserve more of the details and verticality you all build into your maps. A huge thanks to all the people who gave feedback and examples of places the last iteration produced suboptimal results, your input is invaluable!

We'll of course keep monitoring for your feedback on this.

Additionally this release includes:

• Fix the hide plane for flying minis, the checks are now being made from the minis' position (including fly-elevation) instead of from the floor.
• Increase resolution of the initial Bouncyrock logo splashscreen on load.

This release improves the automatic placement of the hide plane.

It does this by taking into account more of the surroundings of a mini to make better decisions of where to place the hide plane, which should result in more consistently being able to see inside of buildings without manually adjusting the hide plane.

Also in this release are some minor fixes and quality of life improvements:

• Teleporting a creature or group moving several creatures now trigger the automatic hide plane placement (unless the hide plane is locked of course).
• In turnbased mode players cannot click on mini portraits to be moved to their location if said mini is not visible to them.
• Renamed anything related to "mod" to use more fitting verbiage like "community content" or "community creations" in the game's UI. This includes a minor restructure of the community content (previously "modding") section in the settings.

The AoE Initiative Beta has been running for about a week and a half and now it's time to get it out to all of you!

This new feature allows you to add AoE markers to initiative lists making it easier to track some of the long-term effects that may occur during combat.

Here's how to use it and what to expect:

• While in Initiative Edit mode, left-clicking on an AoE handle adds it to the initiative list, while right-clicking removes it again - just like with creatures.
  
  
• Once added to the initiative list, the name and color of the AoE will automatically update.
  
• After applying changes to the initiative list, you're able to click on the AoE entry in the list to move your camera to it.

Hi folks,

The “AoE in initiative tracker” Beta has just got an update fixing a few bugs:

• Fix the issue that moving a tile showed the bounds of the tile at the location you moved the tile from.
• Fix a case where hide volume bounds briefly flash when edited.
• AoE names are now correctly positioned when using the “scene scaling” setting.
• Fixed a case where the GM turning your ruler into an AoE put the ruler tool into a weird state
• Fetching the initiative list from Symbiotes now contains AoEs

These fixes will be coming to the main branch soon, too.

Also coming soon is the box ruler. This has been a long time coming. There are multiple valid ways to make a box ruler, and previously we would get into that design discussion before getting distracted by something more pressing. This time, we just decided to send it and see. We can evolve this ruler over time.

Here is a work-in-progress video of it in action. We are not happy with the visuals yet, but once those are fixed, we’ll get this thing out to you. Thanks to all those who requested this feature on https://feedback.talespire.com/

The “AoE in initiative tracker” feature is looking good so far. So, barring any last-minute surprises, we should be shipping it to everyone this week.

This release fixes a regression and optimizes a TaleSpire subsystem.

The optimization is in the code that draws the rectangular outlines often used for selections. This improvement affects all machines and platforms but will be most noticeable on lower-end ones. On my test laptop, execution time dropped from 1.3ms to 0ms when idle and 0.03ms when in use.[0]

The regression was in a fix from bug-month. There were certain cases where hide volumes could seem to hide tiles that did not intersect. This problem came back due to us making a mistake with version control.

[0] On my test laptop, the gains were masked by poor rendering performance. However, every little counts. When we get to improving rendering time, all these little wins will become helpful.
[1] We also snuck out a fix yesterday for error messages that were firing when deleting and placing tiles.
