yea just silly lack of mechanics, among other things. No healing or repair on the world map. You'll either have to visit your HQ for free healing/repairs, or make sure to heal up after any random battles before heading out again.

I ran across a highlighted tent along the road today and it gave me the option of resting up and healing the crew, or spend time fixing the Kodiak. I chose the fix Kodiak and it gave me a message that any damage had been repaired. Note that I had a level 6 mechanic in the group.

Yeah, there are random spawn rest stops you can find, but otherwise you'll just have to heal up wherever you're at before you jump on the kodiak. If you press the little dial on the radio, you can radio back for a tow to Colorado Springs, which will also heal you.

Have one of your guys invest in Survival and you can avoid all the encounters on the world map, you dont have to worry about a fight that you're not prepared for because of health... and you save on ammo (yes that skill is pretty useless otherwise, but it can save you some headaches)

I always just cheat a character to have max survival. For me any of the random encounters break the game. I can kill the enemies, but they will never go hostile. Though the main problem is I cannot leave the area. I cannot interact with the Kodiak. The only way out is load a save before going into it and hope that another one doesn't happen in the same spot, because 100% will not work.

So I just put 10 survival on my main character via cheating and never take any of the perks. I view it more as a work around than a cheat. Plus like you said...it doesn't have any other use. I've had a couple games get ruined thanks to random encounters.

Um... I just healed all six of my guys whilst on the World Map parked in the Kodiak before going into the Ghost Town to fight.

It's not free but it works. I just went to the Inventory and got each individual Character to select Med Hypos (that anyone can use) and then right click 'Use on Self'.

It totally works just have a stockpile of the cheap Med Hypos.
