Not that I don't appreciate translations, but...
...I think for any game with a level editor Workshop support is a must, especially with such powerful editor as VVVVVV's.

2.5 maybe?

We are discussing adding Steam Workshop support but we are not sure yet as to whether we will implement it.

I think you should. It could make people buy the game (I know people who ONLY buy games that have Workshop support) and it simply makes sense given that the game already has a powerful editor. It may even make people who already beaten the game several times over (including few custom worlds it ships with) to come back.

Lastly, it might give people who want to make VVVVVV custom world but want to make it for others, not themselves a reason to go and do it, because right now sharing your finished world is really cumbersome.

Which is a bit silly imo.

It's not silly to want to have an ability to keep enjoying the game after the main story is done, especially for games that has to be modded to be playable (i.e. Bethesda).

I'd argue that a really good game is still replayable even without the needs of mods/community made maps (even if it improves the longevity on the long run). Multiplayer doesn't equal being also longer if the solo is great enough.

There's already the ability to do that. Downloading level files and moving them to the VVVVVV/levels/ folder isn't hard, it's just inconvenient for some. Most people get their levels from the Distractionware Forums so it's easy to get your levels played by other people and to get new ones.

Speaking from personal experience, I wouldn't have stuck around in the VVVVVV community if there wasn't a community based around custom levels. The only other replay value from the game for me would be speedrunning, and perhaps not unsurprisingly, the speedrunning community is a somewhat separate community, but I don't do much speedrunning as of now.

You don't appreciate the value of convenience.

I do. I'm just concerned about vendor lock-in with Steam Workshop. What I would be fine with is making our own levels downloader for a levels database like https://vsix.dev/levels . That would be as convenient as Workshop but available for GOG, Itch, Humble Store, and Make & Play users as well.

I think we all are too used to convenience and not to frustration and boringness nowadays.

Mod.io then?

Mod.io then?
That seems to be more geared towards mods in general rather than custom levels. We already have a proof-of-concept levels downloader in the works; we'll probably just go with that as the solution for custom levels, but it's not final yet.

So is workshop. But it can be used for level uploading and downloading. I know Super Dungeon Maker is using it in that capacity and (although I am not sure here) Baba Is You.
I own this game on every console. I was tempted to get it on Steam expecting Workshop level editor. Just Shapes and Beats is another example.

Is this still ongoing?
