allthough the game so many years old i trying to play this classic game again but i click play deus ex and it flickers to the screen but then closes itself any idea or any help

I'm playing DeusEx on a laptop with integrated graphics card therfore it is not playable on DX10 with kenties launcher so I am forced to play with OpenGL renderer. The problem is the textures are horrible with OpenGL and I would prefer playing on DX9. However on DX9 the game is so dark and even increasing the brightness has no effect. I am wondering if there is a way to increase the brightness on DX9? Thankful for answers!...

my game seems to be working mostly fine, except for flickering light sources, which blink at an obscene rate and cause some weird artifacts to appear on the screen. anyone know the solution?

The stealth mechanics in this game seem a little finicky, which is fine it's older than dirt, I expect it. But they seem to be reinforcing the idea that not killing everyone, is the right call to make. Is this one of those games where I should be striving for pacifism or is it ok to crack a couple skulls? can I crack all the skulls? what's the ratio? Thanks guys....
