Workshop mods dont seem to work
As the title say. Am i doing something wrong here? Do i have to activate them inside the game or files to see the mods effects?

Do you have workshop beta enabled?

Most likely not. Do you know how to?
I did enable it. I have subscribed to a mod. Booted up the game, mods do not work yet.
I think im missing a step
Or could it be that the 1.08 mod overwrites many other mods?

You are missing a step. Like GaroK said, you have to enable it (not the mod, the game itself).
Right click > Properties > Beta > Then select Workshop Beta from the drop down menu and wait for the game to update. Now you can launch with mods enabled.

Found it! Thanks to the both of you! :)
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but are these all of the steps? Because I have workshop beta selected, and mods checked, however nothing seems to work.

Mods (in this order):

Union
Ninja
Gothic 1 Community Patch
GD3D11
Texture Pack by Artemiano

Now when launching Gothic, it would crash immediately. After I manually downloaded Yet Another D3D renderer for G1 and copied it into the system folder, game now magically works, but the UI is the same as always, no word of Union, Ninja or CP and textures are very much low-res. Which leads me to believe none of the mods actually load.
Ok, so when you install the game, you should run it first without any mods installed. If it's not able to boot up and get you into the main menu, then you probably need to modify some settings--game properties in both steam and the exe itself--properties--compatibility. There's a couple guides that can get you up and running with the base game first. Then you can start adding mods. Some mods require that you run the game after installing BEFORE you add anymore mods. So, always do that just to be sure... after each mod, run it once and exit.

Also, you should NOT have more than one 3d render mod installed. I'm thinking you maybe mean something different. But, I'm assuming you might be talking about the DX11 renderer mod. Should only have one of those or they maybe causing conflicts.

Edit: There's also this guide... for more in depth with dx11 and texture mods;

Keep in mind, most the steps will be the same whether you want to use the Workshop Beta branch install and do mods through Workshop OR doing it all manually step by step like these guides show you. But, with full manual install, you wouldn't opt into the Beta branch... just use the default steam install.

Is it possible to create a desktop shortcut for the workshop version? I can run workshop version from steam library but when creating shortcut it uses regular version.

You can find the needed .exe file here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic\launcher

Gothic1SteamWorkshopLauncher.exe
